Beef

California meat eaters should be on the lookout for ground beef recalled by a New Jersey company and possibly sold in California retail stores.

Topps Meat Co. LLC of Elizabeth, N.J., has voluntarily recalled 21.7 million pounds of frozen ground beef products, mostly hamburger patties, because they may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 bacteria, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The recall started Sept. 25 and was expanded on Sept. 29 due to reports of illnesses. There are investigations of illnesses in 25 people in Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The rest of the story is here.
