There was a landslide in La Jolla yesterday. The massive landslide damaged more than 100 homes near La Jolla on Wednesday. On Wednesday, 55 homes were under mandatory evacuation on the three streets affected by the slide and the buckling along Soledad Mountain Road. Nine homes remain red-tagged as uninhabitable and 27 have been yellow-tagged as barring residents unless they are escorted by authorities to retrieve important possessions, Sanders said. The 27 houses are being evaluated to see if they can be declared safe, he said. No one was injured in the landslide. An emergency session of the City Council is set for this morning to ratify an emergency declaration by Sanders. About 110 homes were affected in some way by the slide -- suffering structural damage, or having power and water interrupted, evacuations ordered or access limited.
