Let me start off by saying I am stoked that we, as a society, are trying to find ways to make giving back "fun". I TRULY BELIEVE WE ARE BLESSED TO BLESS OTHERS. This ice bucket challenge has caught on like wild fire. Not only is the word getting spread about this disease, but they are also raising CRAZY amounts of money! I mean, in less than a month they have raised over 53 MILLION DOLLARS!
I know the premise of the challenge is that within 24 hours of being nominated you need to dump a bucket of ice water over your head OR donate to the ALSA, but I decided to do BOTH :) Well, both but with a little twist.

| Since we set up the camera with a self timer, I wasn't sure if it worked so decided to try it a second time (yup, I collected the ice cubes from the pool and filled up the big bowl again). |

Might as well post the videos (although they are LESS THAN STELLAR :)). You can hear the camera timer beeping and me telling Ry how I think I did the dump before the pictures started taking. Then a second try once I was able to collect some of the ice cubes from the pool. ENJOY...
My thought process is the ALSA is getting tons of press right now (which is AMAZING because it is a great cause, don't get me wrong), but I'd like to take the chance to spread the word about another AWESOME organization.

I decided I would donate to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (feel free to check out my post here or participant page if you are interested in learning a bit more about what they do, what I am raising funds for, or to donate). Mental illness has such a negative stigma, so I believe the more we can spread the word about it and open up a dialog, the more folks we can help and hopefully SAVE!

Now I nominate YOU! Yes.... YOU! I challenge you to choose a cause and GIVE - whether it is to the ALSA, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, your local Human Society, or a community garden - JUST DO IT! [And just because I gave monetarily in this case, you don't need to - give of your time, give of yourself, give whatever you can!]
