Life Updates

I want to start off by apologizing. I feel like lately I have had nothing to say (yet a billion and a half things spinning in my head), so I've ignored the blog. I have felt like whatever I had to share didn't matter or was silly, so I didn't post anything.

Sidebar: I've had people mention "you don't need to apologize", so I want to explain where I'm coming from. I realize that time is an extremely valuable commodity, one that we will never get back once it's gone. With that said, if you are going to take time out of your life to spend a few moments following along on my journey, then I should do my best to deliver. I don't want to let you down or leave you hanging. So, to the people who check in on the blog occasionally and have been disappointed by my lack of posts, I TRULY APOLOGIZE! I do not take you or your time for granted!

Okay, now that that's off my chest, let's get back to the meat veggies of the post - a quick life update.

Life has been pretty chaotic lately. Remember the post from November where I shared some of the new opportunities that were coming the hubby's way? Well, let's just say things didn't work out how we expected. Ryan put in his two week notice with his current position last Monday and will be going full-time freelance at the beginning of next week.

I am super excited that he feels the confidence to strike it out on his own, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. I've been a 1099-contractor for most of our marriage, but with him leaving the comforts of the corporate world behind we've got a lot more details on our plate (i.e. health insurance, tax write-offs, invoicing and tracking payment, etc).

He already has some awesome projects in the pipeline, and I'm super stoked to see him happy and excited about the creative side again. It's been hectic since he's been juggling them with his current job (twice this week he came home from his 9-5 to work till after 2AM) but I'm sure we will be able to get a handle on everything once he is solely freelance.

One of the many projects he has been working on is for a friend's fundraiser -
they wanted a unicorn doing yoga on some tees ;) Here's one of the sketches.

Oh, and a quick update on my broken body... A few weeks back my chiropractor thought maybe the issue I was having in my back might be a compression fracture since it hadn't gotten better (at that point it had been about 8 weeks). I finally saw my primary care physician a couple weeks ago and she said that thankfully it was not any type of fracture, but a thoracic strain. She said she knows how 'crazy' runners can get without running so fortunately I wouldn't have to stop (which was good to hear since I had just run a full marathon three days before seeing her), but that the only real course of action was 'wait'. I would say that it is 'getting better', but this whole hurry up and wait thing is not my jam.

So now I think you're just about caught up (obviously there is more to life than just running and work, but those are two of the main components, right?!). Other than that I've been reading a ton (just finished book number thirty-one for the year), working a bit and daydreaming about upcoming adventures. But enough about me... what about YOU?!

How have you been lately?

All of your book reading this year is inspiring! I'm still trying to get through book number one! LOL!

I love reading your blog, and as fellow blogger, I understand how crazy real life can be making the blog fall a bit behind at times. So, no worries at all for me. Also, since we're friends on FB, I know you're doing okay with your posts. :)

I actually like reading posts every now and then and just can't keep up on a daily basis anyway. I don't know how some make the time to post so frequently--I'm sure it's a grind sometimes. I have not heard of a thoracic strain so learned something! I'd love to see sketches of all animals doing yoga--so cute! Unicorns are a personal fave since I'm a Capricorn. :)

Thanks for the update and hope your "hurry up and wait" healing goes quickly. Best of luck on your husband's new adventure! :)

Love all of your book reading - it's inspiring! I have picked up my reading this year as well (although not as much as you have!) and I am loving it. Good luck with your husband's transition to freelancing - sometimes you just have to take the plunge. And, I always remind myself that no decision is ever final. :)
