Adulting Isn't All It's Cracked Up To Be

Let's be real, adulting isn't super fun... I mean, the whole paying bills, making decisions, having to brush your own hair... It's for the birds, #AmIRightOrAmIRight?!

But, as you read in yesterday's Meet-Ups Galore post, my Saturday was all about my running friends. With that being said, I knew Sunday the hubby and I were going to get down to business and get a few things done.

[A friend joked with me at the Star Wars Meet-Up and said "Man, it's like all you ever do is run." To which I responded and said that  pictures of me working or doing laundry isn't as interesting. "Real life" often gets skipped in our social media snip-bits, which is why I thought I'd do a post about what a normal day looks like in the like of the McDots.]

Was still pretty stoked about my PRO tucker hat on Sunday! (With an early
wake-up call, I was all about throwing on a hat instead of brushing my hair!)

Sunday morning I had to work from 6am until 10am (another reason why I wasn't able to run or even spectate at any of the races). Once I got off, the hubs and I drove down to the beach to get in an easy-paced 5 miles.

We got quite a few comments on our socks... One cyclist even told us we looked
very "Seussical" ;)

We had to rush home, walk the dog and shower before heading over to the AT&T store. We made an appointment for noon and may have underestimated the time needed to fit everything in. We were scarfing down some lunch I made on the way to our appointment. (Our current Internet provider has been taking advantage of us for WAY TOO LONG so we finally decided to make the switch. Moving to AT&T will save us $22 a month - which, by the end of the year, could be like 2 or 3 race registrations!)

After we figured out our Internet and wireless accounts (we also decided to leave our family plan that we had been on for the last couple years with Ryan's parents and got our own account), we went home and picked up the pup. We decided that an hour of adulting at the AT&T store allowed us at least a couple of miles of hiking before we had to take care of more tasks on our To Do List.

Hiked up the Calavera hills to the water tower and back down

When we got home from our hike (it actually turned out to be a bit longer than we expected since we may have taken a couple wrong different turns), we knew we had to buckle down and handle some more responsibilities. I have quite a few "not so local" races coming up over the next couple months, so I had to get all of our arrangements set up (aka spending more money on running... whoever said running was a cheap sport must not have been a runner...).

       LA Marathon - February 14th {Hotel booked, parking pre-paid, shuttle reserved}
       Phoenix Marathon - February 27th {Hotel booked}
       Big Sur Marathon - April 24th {Camp grounds secured, hotel booked - will be camping Wednesday till Friday and then staying in a hotel the night before the race so we can legit shower and have a real bed to sleep on}

Along with that, I also did four loads of laundry, cut the hubby's hair and other random household chores (you know, like cleaning toilets and dusting). Of course, I didn't snap any pictures of those activities because they aren't as bright and colorful as my normal running attire pictures ;)

I will definitely be the first to admit that crossing tasks off my to do list feels GREAT, but if I had my way, I would DEFINITELY chose to #RunAllDay instead of adulting any chance I got!

What is your least favorite adulting task that you "must" do?

My least favorite thing is making the kid's lunches. And I can't quite figure out why. Maybe because they are boring and eat the same sunflower butter jelly sandwichs EVERY.SINGLE. DAY!

This is so true! I don't post photos of the "boring, adult stuff" because it really isn't that interesting ha ha! My least favourite adult task is definitely cleaning or putting away laundry!!!

Oh yes, I struggle with Adulting every single day! My least favorite adult task is cooking, or really anything in the kitchen!

Laundry! Ok, to be honest, I kind of love it. It's the order I need in my life (everything in piles, then neatly folded the right way aka by me and put away).

My least favorite part of being an adult is just the first 3 or 4 days of every month. I get paid at the end of the month, and all of my bills auto draft in the first few days of the next month. Mortgage, insurance, credit card, student loan, utilities... Bye bye money!

Haha this is so true. We never post about paying bills, going grocery shopping, or cleaning.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your normal routine!

I'm in the same boat! I usually post about either running or my kids because the laundry, dishes, and errand running aren't even close to that exciting :)

My least favorite part of being an adult is putting away laundry. Washing it is easy, folding is almost enjoyable, but putting it away... I stink at that.
