Friday Favorites: KT Tape

As runners and folks with active lifestyles, we often put our bodies through the ringer! At times our muscles, ligaments, and tendons could use some pain relief and support. That is where this week's FRIDAY FAVORITE  comes into play. This week I am featuring KT Tape.

I have to be 100% upfront with you, I have only used KT Tape once... (Honestly, I have been extremely blessed to have a pretty injury-free running "career" thus far. My IT Band has flared up a bit before I found cross and strength training, but other than that I haven't really had any running related injuries. The one time I DID use KT Tape was when I stubbed my toe on a pool chair and needed some relief from the foot pain it caused - CLUMSY ME!) I do want to mention that although I do not personally use this (or at least haven't yet), I know there are LOTS of you out there that do. I am NOT a doctor or offering medical advice, but I know lots of folks in the running community swear by this tape!

Please ignore the peeling toenail polish ;)

"So how can it be your favorite?", you may ask.

GREAT QUESTION. Well, because they are a company that sticks to their word (Get it?! I'm so punny...)!

You see, they had a contest on Instagram a couple months back. It was pretty simple to enter... Repost a picture, follow a couple accounts, and hashtag your post. Easy peasy, right?! The prize? A YEAR'S SUPPLY OF KT Tape! Well, you know I love me some giveaways, so I reposted the picture and sort of forgot about it.

That was until my Instagram feed started BLOWING UP with congratulations! GUESS WHAT... I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY WINNERS!!

Source

Part of me thinks NO ONE ever wins these contests, yet another part of me thinks, if someone does, why can't it be me?! I mean Ryan and I DID win a free trip to Costa Rice from Dole through a contest we entered (All we had to do to enter that one? Submit your first name, last name and email address!), so you'd think I would believe my own advice that SOMEONE has to win so you might as well throw your name in the ring!

Anyway, the wonderful folks at KT Tape contacted me and I got to select 20 rolls. They had 10 colors in stock, so I figured I would pick 2 of every color - NO BRAINER!

As I mentioned, I haven't needed to use the KT Tape yet, so I still have rolls to share. I sent a few rolls to friends, but still have some duplicates. I wanted to share the wealth and have a fun GIVEAWAY (I believe I am blessed to bless others, so my gain is now YOUR gain)! You have the opportunity to win a FOUR PACK of KT Tape by entering the Rafflecopter below! The rolls up for grabs are RED, BLUE, BLACK, and BEIGE.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Enter early and often (some of the entries are available DAILY). I did want to mention, this giveaway is NOT sponsored or affiliated with KT Tape in any way... I am just sharing my winnings with YOU! It will run through Thursday, September 25th at 11:59pm PST. I will contact the winner via email (using the email address listed through Rafflecopter). Also, the entires ARE verified, so please make sure you complete the task or I'll have to pick a new random winner.

I use it everyday on my right knee and right foot. KT Tape is the only way I was able to complete Dopey Challenge in January!

I have used KT Tape before! Mainly on my knee. It was interesting to use. Sometimes I don't feel it 'set' before I did my workout and it started coming lose.

I used KT tape last year for my IT band. It really helped get me through my first half marathon. And I love that you can put it anywhere, and it feels like you have a compression bandage on without all the bulk. Love me some KT Tape!

I use KT tape for most of my runs. Sometimes for my ankle, sometimes for my knee or maybe for some shin support. I have used it on my back too.

I just recently started using KT Tape, and it is THE best thing ever! I was a dancer in HS and stopped once I got into College. I recently just started back up but went a little to far and ended up with some weak ankles, my knees, and my sore muscles. It just works wonders and comes in such cool colors. I think the best part of KT Tape is how well it works in water and how long it lasts.

Also in the time I have worn KT Tape, people thought it was more of a fashion accessory rather than athletic tape.

I've never used it before, but it comes highly recommended from my uni's swim coach! I'm planning to use some for my knee pain--hopefully a little extra support will help me power through recovery.

I got a couple of sample strips and left them unattended. My forever curious 10 year old opened them and tried them on himself...

So, while I've TRIED to use KT Tape, I have not been successful. Yet. Haha.

Ramona S said...

Yes. I use it on my knee.

Laura said...

I have used it for my shin splits and as extra support around my knee. Love the stuff!

Stephanie N said...

I have used it a lot recently to support my injured calf muscle. I have used it a few times in the past for IT band pain but struggled to get it to stick so gave up on it for a while. Until I found out that rubbing alcohol and hairspray do wonders to make it stick! I would use it for recovery after races :)

I have used KT tape before. I used it for my achilles and would do so again.

Tanya Wright said...

Yes, I absolutely SWEAR by KT Tape! It's the best invention EVER. I don't run without it. I have recurring plantar fasciitis and KT Tape is the only thing that keeps me pain free during and after a run. I've also used it on my left shoulder and for knee pain. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS STUFF!
