Hydration Station & Chasing Goals

I’m sharing #MiOWhatsNext in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™.

As many of you know, I've got big goals and I'm working hard to chase them down. I'm presently working towards a PR (Personal Record) and BQ (Boston Qualifier) at the Chicago Marathon later this fall. My current PR is 3:30:50 from the St. George Marathon this past October and I'm hoping that is good enough to get me to the 2018 Boston Marathon.

If you know much one thing about fall marathons, you know it means SUMMER TRAINING! I'll be the first to admit, SoCal has pretty perfect weather all year long, but that doesn't mean we are immune to hot (and humid) training runs.

And although I can have all the groundwork laid for a successful training cycle (I'm working with a coach, following my training plan, listening to my body, working on my nutrition, etc), sometimes it's the little things that can derail you.

Little things like a lack of water. Hydration is of the utmost importance - especially while training during the summer months. Dehydration can cause fatigue, a drop in blood pressure, lightheadedness, dizziness, an increased heart rate, overheating, muscle cramps, an electrolyte imbalance, etc. In layman's terms, it can RUIN a run or workout!

Often, if you wait until you are thirsty to begin drinking you are probably already dehydrated. #DontWaitHydrate

But believe me, I realize H2O can sometimes be a little boring. So I was STOKED when MiO sent me a care package.

MiO is a water enhancer that helps you live more, do more, be more, and play more! If you’re on the go 24/7 (aren't we all?!), MiO will help you cram more into every second of every day. MiO may be small, but it packs a mighty punch. With just a few drops, you’ve turned a plain old bottle of water into a flavor-packed vessel of motivation.

I have totally found myself drinking more water throughout the day now that I have the liquid water enhancer to add to my plain agua. I try to drink anywhere from 80-128 ounces of water a day, and adding the MiO helps bring a little fun and flavor into my hydration game. I don't add it to every glass I drink, but it definitely helps mix things up a bit.

If I'm being honest, I hate drinking my calories (I'd much rather eat them in #AllTheChipsAndSalsa) so appreciate MiO has zero calories. I also love that you can customize your water with as much or as little MiO as you'd like depending on your tastes (I normally add a quick squirt to my cup, but if I feel like living on the edge I may add a little extra ;))

I think I found MiO (or maybe MiO found me) at just the perfect time in my training plan... when I will be needing to gulp down tons of water for both hydrating and rehydrating purposes. Hope you stick around to see where MiO ends up next.

Do you prefer flavored water?
