Friday Favorites

WHOOO HOOOO! I don't know what it was about this week (maybe the fact that it was the first "full" week back after the Fourth of July holiday), but it seemed to drag on FOR-EV-ER! Anywho, no need to worry, FRIDAY is here! And not only that, but it's time to share some of the things I am loving lately! Hopefully you'll find something you enjoy in my list!

Macklemore's Glorious

The hubby was told about this music video last weekend. As soon as he told me about it, we had to find it on YouTube and give it a watch. If you haven't seen it yet, take the time to watch it. (In honor of his grandma's 100th birthday, he takes her around to do a ton of different activities that she wants to do for the day. Talk about sweet and memorable!)

Headspace App

As you know, I've been on a reading kick lately (I'm not speeding through books as quickly as I was at the beginning of the year, but I'm still getting my read on). One of my recent reads mentioned "mindfulness" and how it can help your mental game when it comes to running. They brought up the app "Headspace". I thought I'd give it a go and have really been enjoying it. It's guided meditation (this is my first time doing meditation, so any tips are super helpful). I want to make it part of my daily routine (doing it in the mornings when life is still quiet and the day has yet to begin).

Tiffany's Birthday Request

A friend of mine is having her birthday this month. Instead of asking for gifts, she is asking you to team up with her in something FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC! You can read her blog post about it HERE, but the gist is SHE'S DONATING PART OF HER KIDNEY TO HER COUSIN! Um... let's just say AMAZEBALLS! They are hoping to raise some of the funds to cover the extra costs of the organ donation. She doesn't want anyone to give TO her, she wants folks to come alongside here and give WITH her. Every dollar helps, so if you're able to - please consider it!

Volunteer of the Year

And since today's post is all about giving (giving your grandma the best 100th birthday, giving yourself some peace, giving a family member a piece of you), I thought it'd be the PERFECT time to talk about my dad's giving heart! If you know him, you know he's always willing to give of his time, resources and talents. Well, he has been recognized by Habitat for Humanity and will be receiving the award of VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR! He'll be honored in the state's capitol (Michigan, that is) for his hard work and dedication to this cause. HE ROCKS MY SOCKS! PS Don't be mad at mom... she knew you wouldn't toot your own horn and tell us - but I'll HAPPILY shout it from the mountain tops ;).

What are you loving lately?
