Michigan Fifth in Preseason Associated Press Poll
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The University of Michigan football team will begin the 2007 season ranked fifth in both national polls, following today's (Saturday, Aug. 18) announcement by the Associated Press. The Wolverines were listed fifth in the USA Today Coaches' Poll released Aug. 4.
Michigan received 1,371 votes to rank four points behind No. 4 Texas. Southern California collected 62 of the 65 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the preseason poll. The Trojans are followed in the top five by second-ranked Louisiana State, No. 3 West Virginia, Texas and Michigan.
