RIP Great Aunt Shirley

Shirley Drumm June 24, 1925 - Nov. 19, 2007


Shirley M. Drumm, 82, of Onsted, formerly of Monroe, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday at the Lutheran Home.

Friends may call 2 -9 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe. She will lie in state at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Church, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Burial will at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.

Born June 24, 1925, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Maurice and Cecelia (Mentel) Padot. She married Jay Dewey Drumm February 7, 1948, at St. Michael Church, Monroe. He died August 21, 2001.

She earned an Associate Degree at Monroe County Community College and a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1976.

She was a third-grade teacher at Sodt Elementary School until retiring in 1986.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Shrine, Brooklyn, Michigan and Onsted Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed playing bridge with other retired teachers and teacher's wives and playing cards at Onsted Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and going to the theater. In Onsted she lived in the home that she and her husband built together and she loved to plant and grow geraniums.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Karen) Drumm of Saline; two daughters, Charlene Jayne Drumm and Beth Ann M. (Darryl) Carter, both of Monroe; a brother, Maurice (Sally) Padot, Jr. of Flordia; a sister, Mary Lou (Frank) Smith of Carleton; six grandchildren, Dawn Pratt, Christopher (Angela) Carter, Tammy (Christopher Lee) Michauex, Collin Drumm, Patrick Drumm, and Evan Drumm and one great-grandson Garrett Michauex.

She is preceded in death by her husband and one brother Robert Padot.

Memorial may be made to Onsted Senior Citizens.
