7 reasons not to argue with children.
1. A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".
2. A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl: replied, "They will in a minute."
3. A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?" Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."
4. One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head. She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?" Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white." The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"
5. The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. "Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.' A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."
6. A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face." "Yes," the class said. "Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?" A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."
7. The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching." Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.

Ryan's Grandma - UPDATE
I just received this email and would like you all to join in prayer for Grandma Cates (what most of them call her) and for the McClurg family during this difficult time:
"We are on a journey and everyday brings a new challenge. Yesterday we made a decision with lots of input from her physicians to admit Charlene's Mom to Hospice House. Her health is failing very quickly with CHF, bad kidneys, two bad heart valves and emphezyma!!!!
This was a very difficult day for Charlene when we went to Hospice to check it out realizing this is really an end of life decision. The place at Sparrow is absolutely beautiful and first class but it is still hard. The doctors can't predict how long a time Frances has but they suggested that Larry, Charlene's brother in California, come home this weekend to have the opportunity to see his mom while she is still alert. Our Son Ryan will be her next weekend as well and Aaron and Eric this Sunday.
We know she is dying and seems to being going down hill quickly. They are starting to give her a low dose of morphine to help her feel comfortable. Please pray for her comfort and that the family will have peace. She knows the Lord and is ready to being with him any time. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.Love ya all."

Not in the mood...
It seems I am in a slight funk today. I could have probably guessed by the way the morning started, with a sore body and extreme tiredness (I doubt it's a word, forgive me Mr. Earl). I wasn't able to fall asleep last night and therefore stayed up for a long time flipping through the TV (it seems like when I get real tired I can't fall asleep, I know, weird, right?). When I woke up I could tell that I didn't get much sleep and the sleep that I did get wasn't of high quality (no quality or quantity, bummer). Anywho, yesterday our server was down at work so I have been rather busy today trying to catch up (since we process our Payroll on Wednesday to get everyone paid Friday). On top of the soreness and blahness I have just been in a 'mood'. I think I know where it is coming from but I am not 100%. When I get into these grooves I wish I could just spend a couple hours outside in the sun napping but it never seems to work out like that. I guess I'll just have to get over this funk or get over the reason I am in it. BLAH!

Ryan Buzzed His Head... Again....
So Ryan was up in San Jose this weekend visiting a couple friends that live up there and decided to buzz his head (in the process he gave himself a mullet and texted me the photo so when I woke up Friday morning I had a nice picture of Ryan with a mullet on my phone). Just thought I would post a photo so you can all come to your own conclusions (I like it longer though :)). This is not the first time he has done this. The last time he did it was when we were at LT (Leadership Training) in Orlando about 3 summers ago...
Ryan's Grandma
I am asking for prayers for Ryan's Grandma. She has been in and out of the hospital lately, and this is the most recent email I received from Ryan's Dad:
"Hi Everyone,
We have been back in the great state of Michigan for about a week down in Lansing. If you haven't heard we had to readmit Charlene's mom Frances back into the hospital last Monday. Heart went back into atria fibrillation last week sometime and her legs got huge with fluid. It was complicated by an infection in her legs from all the fluid.
They did one last cardio version this past week and so far it is staying in sinus rhythm. If it doesn't hold they aren't recommending we try anymore. They fluid is down quite a bit in her legs but not back to normal and the infection is looking better with the antibiotics. She has gotten very weak through this whole ordeal and can't even get up from the John with her walker.
The doctor's think they will be able to discharge her from Sparrow hospital this Wednesday but she will have to go to a nursing home for at least 1 week to get her strength back before returning home. I think what is really going on is that they want to find out if she can go home. Charlene and I are planning for the worst which would be a more extensive care facility if it comes to that.
We ask you to pray for her Mom that she would be able to go home even if for only a little while. We know it will be a cycle of stuff like this with her congestive heart failure. Also, pray for Charlene. She is just exhausted from helping and worrying. The good news is we know Frances will someday be in a better place."
Thanks in advance for your prayers!!

Everyone knows that California is beautiful and that the ocean in amazing, but I wanted to capture other aspects of the environment (flowers, trees, etc). I have loaded the 30 photos under My Photos (on the Website Bar on the side) if you would like to check them all out. Here are a couple of them, hope you enjoy them!!
