Diag Graduation?

Weird!! I had no idea (maybe cause I graduated 2 years ago, maybe cause I haven't been keeping up on much U of M news other than sports, maybe cause I am just dense) that this years graduation was going to be held on the Diag. Strange. I was reading the Alumni Update and saw the article and just had to pass it along.

The votes have been tallied, and the decision has been made: spring commencement will be held on the Diag. The University recently polled graduating students about their preferred location, the Diag or Elbel Field, and 66 percent favored the Diag. President Mary Sue Coleman and U-M's executive officers endorsed the location soon after the votes were counted. This decision follows a month-long debate between students and administrators about the best location for the ceremony since Michigan Stadium, the traditional location for the University-wide ceremony, is under construction. With the selection of the Diag, each student will be allowed six guest tickets. Commencement will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m.
