New Shoes

Last night Ryan and I went over to Running Center before his basketball game to try on some new running shoes. It was a great store (I think I will definitely go back in the future). We were there for about 45 minutes, I tried on some shoes, ran around in them so that they could tell how I ran, if my biomechanics would work with the shoes, etc. We finally decided on a pair of BROOKS - called the Ghost. Here is a little info on them (probably more than you wanted, but just in case you are really into shoes I thought I would share):

These aren't just an apparition—the Brooks Ghost road-running shoes are built for the neutral runner who wants to go fast. Highly breathable polyester mesh uppers transfer moisture away from your feet and dry quickly; synthetic leather overlays provide structure and support. Element™ polyester air-mesh in uppers and linings provides excellent ventilation and moisture management to keep feet comfortable on the run. Washable Ortholite™ foam footbeds inhibit odor and enhance comfort. Midsoles feature MoGo foam polymer alloy, formulated to provide cushioning, energy return and reduced foot fatigue. Used for insole boards, S-257™ Cushsole is a special EVA compound that offers excellent cushioning and flexibility. Silicone-based HydroFlow® system at heel and forefeet features durable, fluid-filled chambers that dampen shock. Dual-density DRB® Accel thermoplastic urethane arch shanks control torsional flex at midfoot for optimal control and support. Hyper-Pod™ configuration sets feet in a balanced and efficient position from heel strike to toe-off, providing maximum stability and flexibility. Outsoles feature HPR Plus high-density carbon rubber in heels for outstanding durability; contact rubber in forefeet adds extra resilience.

I also wanted to show some pictures of my old shoes and compare them to my new ones :).

My old shoes were from Walmart:

Because I am lazy, I take off my shoes my putting my foot on the back of the opposite heel and peeling them off (I don't like untying them - I mean come on, I will just have to retie them) - so hence the heels are starting to pull away from the shoe:

The new shoes are Brooks - Ghost (lime green and silver):

The catch phrase was 'They are so fast it's spooky':

I ran my first run in them this afternoon and they felt super. I am so excited about them!! I will keep you updated, but for now I am stoked on the new purchase!! WHOO HOO!! Run Happy!!
