Today is the last day to register to vote in California if you would like to vote in the election on November 4th... Your registration needs to be post marked by midnight tonight...

KEARNY MESA: Today is the last day to register to vote for the Nov. 4 election.

The county Registrar of Voters Office will be open to midnight to help people register. The office is at 5201 Ruffin Road, Suite I, in Kearny Mesa.

By midday, hundreds of would-be voters were lined up at the Registrar of Voters office, said county Registrar Deborah Seiler.

“We have a line of people and a line of cars around the block,” Seiler said. “They've been lined up here since at least 11 o'clock.”

People are not only registering to vote, but are actually casting ballots as well, Seiler said.

“Some of them are coming in to register and vote, and others are coming in just to vote,” said Seiler, pointing out that some people are bringing in their mail-in ballots directly to the registrar's office.

“We've had 3,500 vote already, even before today's onslaught. They've been voting since Oct. 6,” she said.

If you can't make it to the office, registration forms can be found at post offices and libraries or at uniontrib.com/more/vote. The forms can be mailed in, but must be postmarked by today.

The registrar's Web site – www.sdvote.com – also has a search engine so you can check to see if you are registered.
