The weather was perfect to trek through the hilly park (FYI I would NOT push a stroller or wheelchair through this zoo, seems awfully hard uphill and very scary downhill). Started a little overcast but by the time we made our way through the entrance it was in the 60s and sunny.
We saw a bunch of zoo babies, although the morning sun made some of them difficult to photograph. Below are some of the pictures that turned out half way decent (I didn't bring our nice camera, which in hindsight I probably should have, but for now you will have to deal with the iPhone pics):
The zoo recently opened a new Australian Outback section |
This koala was waving (or maybe scratching his ear) |
Did you know the baby flamingos are grey? They don't turn pink until they are adults (about 3 years old). |
The flamingos were pretty funny to watch, their necks are like snakes! |
Haha, this kangaroo was just snoozing in the sun like this! What a fought life, right?! |
Look at those stripes! |
One of the zebras was real close to the fence |
Did you know that however tall a giraffe is in feet their tongue can be in inches?! |
One of the baby giraffes |
A character stop?! DUH! |
The tiger sort of looked like he was wearing a crown |
One of the grizzlies was hiding in the water under a palm frond |
Pretty kitty! |
The female elephants were hiding in the shade |
The male elephant looked like a woolly mammoth |
The polar bears were dirty from rolling in a compost pile |
Panda getting his grub on! |
Not a shabby way to spend a Saturday morning! AND NOW THE HUBBY IS ON HIS WAY HOME FROM LAX (after layovers in both Singapore and Tokyo)!! WHOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!
Do you like to visit your local zoo?
