Change is a comin'.

I've never been the type to think much of the coming new year. Honestly, it is just another day for me. I don't try to reinvent the wheel, revamp my life, or even set resolutions (Side note, it seems as though setting a "resolution" is just a way of saying "wouldn't it be great if... but I don't really want to put in the hard work and effort". I mean have you heard the statistics of how many resolutions fail?! I would suggest small, attainable goals instead of one HUGE overhaul {which seems to be what resolutions tend to be}. These are more defined and easier to reach. Not that you need to set "easy" goals per-say, but if you want to stay encouraged and enthusiastic about working towards something - setting benchmark goals that you can reach tend to help keep people focused and motivated). And this post isn't about me changing my tune and setting a resolution this year either... but it just so happened to be that a big adjustment came around the first of the year this year.

Last Monday I put in my 2 week notice at my current job. I have been there for for over five years now. I've had great opportunities, learned lots about myself, and grown as a person throughout my time with the company. Unfortunately, signs pointed towards a change, and I have taken the cue. Everything was left on a positive and professional note, so I am happy to say we can all wish one another well and the best of the luck in the future and move forward with our lives.

I would be lying if I said I knew what I was going to do next. At this point I haven't even looked to see what is out there. Maybe something in the non-profit sector? Maybe selling t-shirts and shell necklaces on the beach to tourists? Maybe we will win the lotto and I can stay "retired" for a while (crap, that means we would have to play the lottery to win, huh?)? Or maybe someone would let me know that they love what I am doing (blogging, taking pictures, running, etc) and will pay me to just continue doing my thang?

PS Yes, this post may have been just a giant pep talk to ME, MYSELF, and I - reminding myself that I CAN DO THIS! But hey, maybe you may have needed to hear some of this too. Even if you aren't changing jobs, starting a new venture, drastically overhauling your life, etc, maybe you needed to have some encouragement for whatever the future holds for you as well - and hopefully this post did just that.

Read your piece!
I'm 69 now, but in 2013 I made 2 big changes in my life.
Or maybe I should say I ADDED two new things.
I started on Twitter back on April 22...and now have tweeted almost 3000 times!
On Dec 9, I began my first blog, called AaronK's Track and Field Record Book.
I've posted 19 times in the past 37 days!
So good luck in finding new directions/things to do in YOUR life!!
