May Gray, June Gloom

It's back. Last year I moved out to California thinking that I was moving to SUNNY San Diego. I moved out here May 3rd and was quite surprised. It was hazy and gray. I talked to more and more people to hear the continuous excuse "Oh it's just May Gray". I wasn't warned about this before I moved out, but I have now come to realize, it's TRUE! Sad buy true. I looked up the causes this morning and this is what I found:

The sun-seeking know to avoid southern California beaches in the late spring. A period known to the locals as May Gray and/or June Gloom often darkens the coastal skies of sunny southern California with a layer of marine stratus. During this time, the coastal clouds may remain all day but often give way to some hazy afternoon sunshine. The number of days during this two month period that are gloomy vary from year to year. Cooler ocean temperatures (La Nina conditions) usually foretell a gloomier period.

I know it stinks right now, but at least we have 10 amazing months, right? :) Since I don't have a window at work and am inside from 8-5 Monday through Friday I guess it really doesn't matter if it is sunny and beautiful or gray and hazy now does it? :)
