Sad Day

I came in to work this morning to an email that said:

Good morning Everyone,
I am sorry to have to tell everyone that we have all suffered a huge loss to the Cass family. Last night at around 5:00 pm Jeff German gave in to his battle against pancreatic cancer and passed on. As everyone who came in contact with Jeff knew, he was a most extraordinary man. He lived life to the fullest and gave his heart and sole to whatever he did. Jeff gave so much to this company, to all those who worked with him, and to everyone whom he touched, we all owe him a great deal of gratitude.

A time and date hasn’t been set as of yet for the memorial services but we will keep everyone updated.

We are all going to miss Jeff very much and we ask that you please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Jeff was one of our superintendents. He has been here for such a long time. He was a real great guy! I had only worked with him for about 6 months before he had to take some time off because of the cancer, but in those 6 months I worked with him a lot and know that this is a BIG loss. He was a funny guy and one that was always willing to help (especially when I came to him every other day because his guys filled out their time sheets wrong or left guys off, etc). It is a sobering feeling around the office today, with many tears and long faces. I think everyone knew this day would come, especially since the chemo hadn't been working as of late and he was looking worse when he would come in, but I don't think people really grasped that it would happen. Sad days around Cass lately (Jeff is the second guy to pass away in the last month). I know none of you know Jeff or his family, but he was great and I know his family will need prayers during this difficult time so if you could all keep the German family in your prayers.
