Eight Easy Paced Miles

This afternoon I did eight easy paced miles after work. I wanted to take it easy for a few reasons.

First, I was breaking in my new shoes.

Next, it was in the 80*s (and I would say, on the blacktop it was closer to 90*s).

Last, I wanted to enjoy the run and the scenery.

I did take a couple 'shade' breaks, since it was so warm outside. And a couple water fountain pit stops (no need to overheat or dehydrate). But all-in-all it was a good run.

Friday, July 26th – Easy paced 8 miles after work

Saturday, July 27th – Rest day (travel day)

Nineteen miles pounding the pavement this week, not too shabby. I tried to get a few extra days of gym workouts in, since I will be away from the gym next week.

I am posting this a few days early (since I know tomorrow will be a rest day) because we will be up in Central Coast California for a week, starting tomorrow. I am slightly nervous about my workouts up there, but have made sure to pack workout clothes for EVERY day so that I have no excuses. Wish me luck :) [or possibly patience for myself if I don't get in as many workouts as I would like so I'm not super bummed].

Perks of Michigan Living

32 Perks To Living In Michigan Despite The Economy

Hey, Detroit may have filed for chapter 9 bankruptcy but it isn’t all bad here in the Great-Lakes state!

1. We somewhat get to experience all four seasons.

We somewhat get to experience all four seasons.
The weather in Michigan is kind of a joke, being that it actually feels like we only just get winter and summer. But, we do get to witness the leaves change when its “fall” and the flowers pop back up again that one week we consider “spring”, so it’s not too bad! Some states get to miss out on the one day the snow looks kind of nice.

Yeah there’s Florida and Texas is pretty big, but do those states look like a mitten surrounded by lakes? No, so point goes to Michigan.

4. Speaking of being mitten shaped, we get to flawlessly use our own hands as a map.

I say 3 other lakes instead of 4 because Lake Ontario isn’t exactly touching Michigan and would be a trip to make-but we still consider it our lake because we’re awesome.
And if you aren’t feeling the Great Lakes you have 11,000 inland ones too.

An island resort located on Lake Huron, Mackinac Island is known for its fudge, ban on all motor-vehicles and the fact that it is now a National Historic Landmark- but mostly it’s fudge. Which in fact, you’ll never miss an opportunity to buy some fudge when you’re there because literally every other store is a fudge shop. (Sadly, Mackinac Island is highly commercialized but it is kind of cute and does have many historic landmarks.)
