Ryan and I went down to the beach on Friday night with the Carrigans. The guys were stoked on the waves, and the ladies were just along for the ride. The guys had a fun surf sesh and the wives enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Check out the picture I caught. (Remember, this was with a camera phone, so the colors were even more radiant and bright than this :) )

Go Mules!
My senior year, our high school football team went 0 and 11... Literally - we never won a game! This year they are currently 10 and 0! My how things can change in 9 years....
Bedford's late score draws curtain on Anderson's season
The end was bitter for the Anderson football team, which fought and scratched until the end Friday night before falling 40-28 to Temperance Bedford in a penalty-filled game.
The Titans led only once – 14-7 in the second quarter – but they outgained the Kicking Mules 305 yards to 246 and were never more than a touchdown from a tie.
The game was tied four times, the final time late in the fourth quarter.
Bedford scored with 17 seconds left to break a 28-28 draw.
The Mules got a meaningless touchdown when Anderson quarterback Devon Bronson was sacked during a desperation throw and fumbled. The Mules carried it in from 10 yards out as time expired.

Giveaway Time
One of my friends is re-doing her blog. She is looking for help on choosing a name for her reformatted blog. Please check out the original post here and make sure to leave her a comment!! I'm not sure if you win by randomly being drawn or if you have to choose the blog title itself, but it only takes about 2 minutes and you'd be helping a friend.

SDPD Shooting
San Diego Policeman, 2 Others Dead After Shootout
A San Diego police officer was among three people dead in a shootout that sent dozens of residents in their pajamas running from their homes early Thursday.
Officer Christopher Wilson was fatally shot in the confrontation that began Wednesday night, when San Diego County officers and U.S. marshals went to check on a man on probation and serve an arrest warrant on another.
After the man on probation slammed the door in their faces, officers pushed their way into the apartment and arrested him, said Assistant Police Chief Jim Collins. Four other people ran into a back bedroom, including the man police believe was named on the warrant, he said.
Officers got backup from the San Diego police department and then kicked in the door of the bedroom, where they were met with gunfire, Collins said.
Wilson, a 17-year police force veteran, was fatally shot in the living room while three officers fired back. Two officers fled to another bedroom and eventually escaped out a window, Collins said.

Tubeless TP
Roll with it: Scott's tube-free toilet paper
There are plenty of ways to extend the life of the cardboard toilet paper tube through creative reuse. The humble tube is a crafting must-have, and also serves as compost material, cord organizer, pantyhose container, napkin ring, seed germinator, pet rodent toy, and, potentially, a memo pad.
But what about tube-less toilet paper rolls? Impossible you say? Watch out, George Costanza, because soon shoppers will be able to purchase just that … toilet paper rolls sans cardboard tubes.
USA Today is reporting that on Monday at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores across the Northeast, Kimberly-Clark will introduce tube-free loo rolls through the Scott Naturals brand.
I first blogged about Scott Naturals back in August 2009 when Kimberly-Clark launched the recycled content brand, giving the company’s sullied environmental reputation a boost. Well, it seems that K-C is on an, ahem, eco-roll with news of Scott Naturals Tube-Free toilet paper.
The "tube-less technology” behind the toilet paper is, not surprisingly, hush-hush. While the holes in the rolls may not be as round as we're accustomed to, they will fit over standard spindles and every last square of toilet paper will be useable. And to be clear, the toilet paper will not boast recycled content. But hey, it’s a start.

Pumpkin Carvin' CONTEST
Last night Ryan and I carved our pumpkins. I am SURE you would be able to guess whose is whose, so I might as well just tell you. I did a Minnie Mouse and Ryan made a tri-clopse. I don't think I will try another one that has such small lines in the future, but was proud I actually got it done. I, of course, am a little biased, because I think trying to make something so well know look right is a lot harder than making up something as you go, but at the same time, I had something to trace onto my pumpkin. Anyway, with that being said.... WE NEED YOUR VOTES! We did our work, now it is up to you!
Which is your favorite?
Minnie?
Or Tri-clopes?

Playing with Light
While Ryan and I were trying to take pictures of our pumpkins last night, I got out the flashlight (I thought maybe we would get better pictures with that instead of the candles). Ryan wanted me to try and write my name with the flashlight. This is what we got:
Then Ryan tried to make a smile-y face:
And a funny design:
And lastly he was walking up and down the hall making circles:
What a fun Wednesday night :)

Garbage Vacuum Cleaners
Hawaii beach garbage recycled as vacuum cleaner
There's a story behind the blue, white and green plastic covering the surface of the Pacific Ocean vacuum cleaner. They're tiny bits of plastic collected from one of Hawaii's dirtiest beaches, Kahuku, where waves dump trash from the Pacific all day long.
The machine made by Electrolux AB is fully functional and can suck up dirt from a rug like any other vacuum. But the company said it wants the device to serve as an object that provokes a conversation about the large volumes of plastic trash that are polluting the world's oceans.
The Stockholm-based company has also made four other vacuums, each from plastic trash collected in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean, North and Baltic seas. None of the five are for commercial sale.
Cecilia Nord, vice president for sustainability and environmental affairs at Electrolux's floor care and small appliances division, said many groups are doing their best to clean the ocean and beaches of plastic.
But the problem keeps growing because people continue to consume more plastic without recycling it afterward, she said.

Holiday Letter
I am getting ready to put together our Christmas Letter. Yes, I know, it may be early, but if you know me, you know I like to be prepared. Anyway, the reason I am posting is because I thought I would poll my readers -
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO SEE IN HOLIDAY LETTERS?
Right now I have about 3/4 of a page, but thought I would see if there were ideas that people had... like maybe putting in a fun recipe or something creative you have seen or used in the past.

Understanding Him
5 ways to understand him better
Women have puzzled over it for years — why the heck do men do the things they do? Why do they profess their love for you one minute, then ignore you the next (say, when an Attila the Hun special turns up on TV)? Why can they not remember our birthdays? Let science explain some of these conundrums — and help you rev up your relationships!
1. Be patient with his memory
2. Don’t expect him to get hints
3. Don’t take conversation lulls personally
4. Appreciate his naturally upbeat nature
5. Don’t expect his take on your relationship history to match yours

More Vinyls
I got more vinyls today :) I was looking on Etsy.com for some and came across a lady that had a 'Be the Change' vinyl. I noticed that she was in OCEANSIDE! I sent her an email to see if she would be willing to meet up and she said yes (which saves me on shipping :) ). I met her this morning at a coffee shop and picked it up. I will wait to put them up with Ryan, so you will have to wait till later for pictures. She even threw in an extra vinyl (Live Laugh Love). Can't wait to see 'em on the wall!

CUTIE PIE!
Ryan and I were video chatting with Mr. Matthew Man (and Aaron) on Saturday. It was fun, and he is super cute. Here is a picture that Aaron took of him at the zoo on Saturday.
PS We asked him what he saw at the zoo and he said "A tiger, RRRRRRAAARRRRRHHHHH." and "A wolverine, GO BLUE" And he did them both on his own. HOW AWESOME!!

Tim Gunn on Gossip Girl tonight :)
Although Blair (Leighton Meester) made it perfectly clear that Little J was no longer welcome in Manhattan after what happened with Chuck (Ed Westwick), Jenny (Taylor Momsen) is tempted by a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Tim Gunn ("Project Runway"), which could be a game changer for her future. Meanwhile, Serena (Blake Likely) discovers something about her new boyfriend, Colin (guest star Sam Page), that may put an end to their relationship just as it was getting good.
