BIG News!

I've got some BIG news to report...

This morning I registered for my FIRST FULL MARATHON!

Yup... The girl that said she would NEVER run a full has officially signed up! And if you know me, if I pay for the registration then I AM DOING IT (I think my middle name must be "Frugal")!

I will be running the Surfer's Path Marathon in Santa Cruz, CA on May 18th.

I actually spent a good, long time this past weekend looking up training calendars to make sure I would be able to adequately train for the race (since it is just over 3 months from now - EEKS). I decided I would use the Hal Higdon Novice 2 training calendar, slightly modified. I had to switch up a few of the runs because of the races already on my calendar and I also added in strength training on an original rest day. I do well with a schedule, so it was great to put things down on paper and see everything right in-front of me (okay, maybe I am more like OCD about my time and NEED it).

Possibly adding a 10K on May 4th, but haven't registered yet, which is why it isn't in Sharpie yet ;)

I will be running the race with a friend, which will be super nice - that way she can kick my butt if I ever feel like throwing in the towel.

Meggie and I with Alex, the beautiful bride.

I am BEYOND BLESSED to have an amazing support team in place! And I have a feeling I'm going to need to rely on them a BUNCH for these next 3 months!

Have you ever run a full marathon?

So awesome! You're going to rock it and I can't wait to hear about how your training goes. As someone who still hasn't pulled the trigger on a full - I love reading what others have to say.

AHHHH! Congrats! Hal Higdon's plans are the best, IMHO...I used him for my first marathon (Dopey Challenge in Disney last month) and absolutely credit the plan with the fact that I survived all four races, haha. Signing up for your first full is so exciting, congrats for taking the plunge! The training -- and, you know, actually crossing that finish line -- is going to be one of the most rewarding experience of your life. :)

Wow! So exciting Carlee! I haven't ever run a full marathon and don't know if I ever will. Half marathons still intimidate me. I am like you though, if I pay for registration, I'm running! Also, love Hal Higdon and plans are MY middle name!

That's awesome, congratulations! I just ran my first full in January. It was such an accomplishment and so worth the months of training. Good luck!

Congrats! I'm searching for the guts to sign up for a full myself. I'm scared! Done several halfs but never a full.
