WIENER DOG RACES

Tomorrow - WIENER DOG RACES!!

Last year my madre and I went to the races, but her flight isn't getting in until 9pm tomorrow night, after the races have concluded. I will be watching the races and hopefully taking MANY photos!

The Wiener Nationals are the United States’ national dachshund racing championships sponsored by Wienerschnitzel. Regional qualifiers are held in the Southwestern United States in California (Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento), Texas (El Paseo), New Mexico (Albuquerque) and Nevada (Reno and Las Vegas). The final race of the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals will feature top dogs from across the southwest and will take place in San Diego on December 27, 2007 as the kickoff of the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade. These dogs have all competed in preliminary rounds and have out run hundreds of Dachshunds to make it to the final. The winning dog will be given the title “Fastest Dog in the West.”

The 11th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals kicks off in San Diego on September 8th, at Qualcomm Stadium. The top eight dogs from the qualifying round will advance to the San Diego final, Thursday, October 25th at halftime of the Lakers vs. Jazz basketball game at the San Diego Sports Arena. The winner of the San Diego finals will advance and join the winning dogs from all around the Western U.S. at the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade presented by the San Diego County Credit Union on December 27.
