Snowman Cheeseball

I was tasked with an appetizer for a "framily" gathering on Christmas. I had asked Ryan what he thought I should do. Obviously we LOVE our chips and salsa in this household and his first thought was a 7-layer dip. Although I normally would have jumped at it, I couldn't think of a way to make it festive. I did a quick Pinterest search and saw some cute snowman cheeseball spreads so decided that is what I would do!

This was the picture that started it all!

The innards of the snowman was 4 packages of organic cream cheese and two cloves of garlic. The "snow" was organic parmesan cheese. It looked like most of the pictures were using peppercorns for the eyes and the buttons, but we didn't have any so I had to improvise... PURPLE SKITTLES it was ;) I also used the edge of a Reese's cup as the smile... At least I had a carrot for the nose!

I normally never actually follow through with ideas from Pinterest (I have thousands of pins and I think I have made maybe 4 of the recipes...), so since I actually made it (and it turned out somewhat cute) I HAD to document it. (PS FAIR WARNING - I am NOT a food blogger, but at least I can try, right?!)

It was easier to mix the garlic into the cream cheese by hand
I realized that we were driving it over to the party with a doggy in the car, so I figured trying to fend him off while having the snowman standing upright probably would be a bit difficult, so I had him lay down in the pan instead... I still think he turned out okay!

The final product

I didn't get any pictures of it at the party, but trust me when I say it was a HUGE hit! And don't worry, I removed the candies from the cheeseball once folks started digging in!

Do you actually make the things you pin on Pinterest?

So impressive! I may have to steal this idea. Did you serve with crackers or chips?
