I'm A Veg Head!

January 1, 2013 marks my NINE YEAR anniversary of being a vegetarian! (I still remember my final meat meal on December 31st, 2004 - Shrimp Scampi from Red Lobster - I could {and DID} drink that garlic butter - YUMMMMMM.)

That is JUST CRAZY! I mean, I grew up in the heart of STEAK-AND-POTATO country :) I guess going to a liberal college (the University of Michigan) really opened my eyes to what else was out there in the world.

Just in case you are interested in why I became a vegetarian (one of the many times I have blogged about it) or for a list of potential reasons to go veggie, check out an OLD POST (from 2007) here.

The reason for this post is not just to commemorate my veggie anniversary, but to also make an announcement.

This past week I was asked to be an ambassador for #VegRunChat - one of the #VegHeads (I helped to come up with the name, clever, huh?!).

What is #VegRunChat you ask?

I have been participating in weekly #VegRunChat's on Twitter for a while now and I was HONORED when I was asked to be an ambassador, someone that others can look to and use as a resource. OBVIOUSLY I don't know everything {although don't tell my hubby, I try to tell him differently :)}, but I have a story and that is what I can share!

Stop by a chat some time, sit in the background and just take in some info, ask a question, whatever you do - we'd love to have ya!

Hooray! Super Awesome! I grew up in steak and potatoes country, actually just around the corner from U of M (well, more like down the road 15 minutes, but whatever) and went veg later too.

See you at #vegrunchat!

Happy Veggie-versary!! Nine years is awesome!

I don't remember my last meal, but do remember what made me want to stop eating meat. I became vegetarian at age 14 years old and made the switch to veganism on May 1, 2012.

Congrats on being a #VegHead!!
