Workout Recap - Week 12

Sunday, March 14th – 10.10 mile run

Monday, March 15th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Tuesday, March 16th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Wednesday, March 17th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Thursday, March 18th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Friday, March 19th – Rest Day

Saturday, March 20th – 5 mile hike with the hubby

Yep, you probably noticed, but my running dropped off again this week. My left foot has a niggle (it's the top of my foot... and although I'm nervous about jinxing myself, there's a possibility it's just my fibromyalgia and there's a possibility it could be a stress fracture...), so I've dialed back the running and am trying to listen to my body... even though I feel like I just got back at it after taking like 6 weeks off for my Achilles so I'm a bit ticked off (I JUST WANT MY BODY TO STOP HURTING!). Here's to hoping extra rest is giving my body time to settle down and get its act together. #FingersCrossed

Walt Wednesday

Some people do a "Wordless Wednesday" post, where they simply share a photo or image, but I thought I'd make a little series out of my Wednesdays. And since I love alliteration so much, why not go with Walt Wednesdays (obviously everyone can use a little break from the seriousness, scariness and sassiness of life - and what better way to help put a smile on your face than with a cute wiener dog picture, am I right?!)... So, without further ado...

WALT WEDNESDAY!

When life gets overwhelming, how do you de-stress?

Workout Recap - Week 11

Sunday, March 7th – 10.10 mile run

Monday, March 8th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Tuesday, March 9th – 3.1 mile run, 45 minutes on the stationary bike

Wednesday, March 10th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Thursday, March 11th – Rest Day

Friday, March 12th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Saturday, March 13th – 13.13 mile run

#RealTalk - I was dragging butt this week! It has been stormy (which is good because we need the rain) and weather changes throw my Fibromyalgia into a tailspin (which is exactly what happened). I feel like I'm running on fumes at this point, and, seeing as we are "losing" an hour of sleep this weekend, I doubt I will catch up on rest anytime soon... Thankfully it looks like after Monday the rain should be gone for the foreseeable future, so hopefully my body can get out of this Fibro Flare and back to "normal". PS I dedicated Saturday's run to Breonna Taylor (who was murdered 3/13/20).

Workout Recap - Week 10

Sunday, February 28th – 13.13 mile run

Monday, March 1st – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Tuesday, March 2nd – 8 mile run

Wednesday, March 3rd – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Thursday, March 4th – 6 mile run, 60 minutes on the stationary bike

Friday, March 5th – Rest Day

Saturday, March 6th – 13.13 mile run

Two half marathons in one week, who am I?! I guess you can say the body seems healed! As you can see, I'm still sticking with the every-other-day running plan right now, but it seems to be working for me. This week I was even able to take a complete rest day on Friday! (After only having one day off work in the previous 11 days, which means being on my feet for 10-11 hours a day, my body was not only in need of a rest day, but it needed to sleep in and not have my alarm set for 4am!) Stoked to report the Achilles seems 100% better. On the other hand, the body has been angry at me the last couple days, but I think it's just my Fibromyalgia being flared by the changing weather (we've actually had rain and there is more in the forecast), but thankfully I've been living through the pain for the past 20+ years, so at this point I'm a pro...

Run For The Planet

Hopefully you know I LOVE Mother Nature! If I could, I'd be outside 24/7 (as long as it isn't too cold, rainy, uncomfortable... HA!). On the flip side, I HATE when people don't care for Mother Nature as they should. When I saw Dirtbag Runners teaming up with Tuesdays for Trash for the second annual Run For The Planet, you know I had to help spread the word!

Like the graphic references, this is a worldwide trash clean-up and virtual run... WITH PRIZES! {I know, I know, like the majority of you, I am "over" virtual runs, but until we can make IRL happen safely again, this is what we will have to do.}

On Tuesday, March 16th, participants around the world will be joining together for a run/ walk/ stroll/ hike with the intention to pick up trash seen along their chosen route -- whether it be around their neighborhood, a trail or city streets.

On our recent trip to Joshua Tree I was being a "Stewie" (what a friend calls a "trail steward") and picked
up a ton of trash when we were less than 20 yards from a dumpster... Good thing I had my mask on or
you might have seen my "whoever left this trash laying around in nature SUCKS" face in full effect ;)

All proceeds from online registration donations will go to The Greenbelt Movement, an environmental organization that empowers communities, particularly women, to conserve the environment and improve livelihoods. Every registrant who donates at least $1 and officially registers {using THIS LINK} will also be entered into a raffle for prizes!

Note on weather (since some of you don't live in sunny SoCal ;)) - This event will happen rain, snow or shine. Even picking up a few pieces of trash make a difference. Imagine if everyone picked up three things... It can make an impact!

Another tip/ request - if the trash container you want to use is full, please take said
garbage with you! Wildlife WILL get into the dumpsters/ bags. #PackInPackOut

Register today, donate what you can, mark your calendar, then, on March 16th, head out with a bag (or some sort of receptacle to put the trash in), gloves (or some sort of grabber so you are staying safe and healthy) and mask (or tackle a route where you can give others at least 6 feet of space) to help leave this place better than we found it!

FYI - This is NOT the type of glove I am talking about... but it is a glove I
found discarded on a dog walk in Joshua Tree that I picked up and threw out.

Will you join me in two weeks?!

Workout Recap - Week 9

Sunday, February 21st – Rest Day

Monday, February 22nd – 10 mile run

Tuesday, February 23rd – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Wednesday, February 24th – 8 mile run

Thursday, February 25th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

Friday, February 26th – 6 mile run, 60 minutes on the stationary bike

Saturday, February 27th – 90 minutes on the stationary bike

24 miles of running?! AWWWW YEAH! I'll take it! I'm still running every other day, but I have felt no pain in my Achilles and everything else seems to be doing fine too. Maybe next week I'll add a fourth day of running... or maybe not... On my shorter run days I'm still adding in a little biking, so I get in a decent length workout, but maybe I'll bump up the distance of running rather than adding in an extra running day... We'll see how the body feels (I love the quote I once heard that says "if you listen to your body whisper you won't have to hear it scream"... I didn't listen to the whispers and it SCREAMED stop, so I will do whatever I need to do to prevent that happening again!). Right now I don't have anything on the schedule until October (and who knows if that will actually happen), so I'll take it as slow and steady as I need/ want.
