Day 12 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

And no matter how long you've been visiting, you picked an AMAZING time to pop in because we're celebrating my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas {read my post announcing this series HERE if you don't know what I'm talking about}.

Today is Day 12 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas! And the prize today is pretty FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC! Although, to be honest, all of the prizes are absolutely AMAZEBALLS! If I could enter my own giveaways I'm pretty sure I would enter each and every one of them in this series (and somehow rig it so I'd win) because they are just that AWESOMESAUCE.

Up for grabs today is: a Garmin Forerunner 645 Music.

For today, DAY TWELVE, one winner will be selected, winning a Garmin Forerunner 645 Music of their very own.

I am a numbers girl. I'm sure it wouldn't surprise you to find out that I started college thinking I was going to be a math major (and only switched to Economics when I found out I 'only' needed 4 semesters of Calculus for Econ instead of the 6 for Math). So when I started running outdoors I knew I needed some sort of watch that would help me track my data.

Source

Let's be real, I am frugal and since I wasn't sure if running was going to 'stick' I decided to opt for a refurbished watch I found on eBay. I ended up with the Garmin Forerunner 110 and loved it. It was one of my first running purchases and I had it for the first 2.5 or so years of my running career. It was big and chunky but it made me feel like a "real runner".

When I realized running was here to stay (and I found a great deal on a new watch so I could "splurge"), I upgraded to the Garmin Forerunner 220. This watch offered many new features (bluetooth connection to Garmin Connect, the ability to set up intervals, a less chunky appearance, etc). I kept this watch for about 2 years until I upgraded again.

My next GPS watch was the Garmin Forerunner 735XT (sensing a pattern here?!). This one allowed for multi-sport (so instead of everything recording as 'running', I could choose my activity before I begin to include things such as hiking, biking (both indoor and outdoor), swimming (both indoor and outdoor), trail running, strength training, etc). I loved this watch, but as I'm sure you have guessed by now, I had it for about 2 years before upgrading to another Forerunner ;)

My current watch is the Garmin Forerunner 935. The main reason for the switch to this watch was the amazing battery life. It has all of the features I could want AND I can keep the GPS running on it for upwards of 24 hours. You may chuckle and say "Why would you need that long of a battery charge?" but when the hubby and I were running the Grand Canyon I had to charge my watch (I had a Fenix 5S for a brief moment) mid-run. With my first official ultra on the calendar in January, I knew battery life was of utmost importance. And, if the pattern continues, I'll probably have this watch till 2020 ;)

Anywho, because Garmin is AMAZING (I have been beyond blessed to have been on their ambassador team for a while now and I'm crossing my fingers I'm in for 2019), they offered one of the new Forerunner 645 Music watches for YOU!

Source

Running is more than just exercise, it’s a performance. And Forerunner 645 Music has the tools to help you put on an outstanding show every time you lace up. It features on-device music storage, so you can run with your favorite tunes, and contactless payments that let you buy what you need without missing a beat. With all that plus advanced running dynamics and performance monitoring tools, this GPS running watch is the instrument you need to put on a show.

Entering this giveaway (along with the other #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas giveaways) is easy-peasy! Simply use the Rafflecopter widget listed below on the giveaway blog post and cross your fingers. Some entries are available daily so I'd HIGHLY recommend entering early and often. (Shoot, I would even go as far as suggesting you set an alarm to remind you to come back to this page every 24 hours so you can take advantage of as many entries as possible!)

a Rafflecopter giveaway Now, the nitty gritty details... All entries are verified, so please make sure to do whatever the required action for the entry is or it will be disqualified. I would hate for you to miss out on winning due to a technicality, so if you are going to click the option, make sure you do whatever it asks or a new, random winner will be selected in your place.

Also, this giveaway will last seven days, with the random winner being picked (and notified) on the eighth day. The winner will have 24 hours to reply to the congratulations email from me to claim their prize. That means, for this specific giveaway, it will end on December 18th at 11:59pm PST and the ONE winner will be chosen on December 19th.

And, finally, the winner must have a US mailing address. International shipping seems to cost an arm and a leg these days, and customs is a major headache, so to make it easier (and cheaper) on the brands who have offered up their products, the winner must live in United States of America (or at least have an address we can ship to within the US).

With that said, BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERS! I hope you have enjoyed each and every one of my giveaways (and have been lucky enough to have been selected as a winner)! A HUGE THANKS to all of the amazing brands who offered up their products for this series. If you don't follow these companies already, I highly urge you to - they're good people (with awesome products)! You will not be disappointed in any of them!

Actually gonna run today!

Stephanie Kartalopoulos said...

This might sound a bit silly, but it's true for me: I plan to #beatyesterday by getting proper sleep. And by not letting yesterday's craving for sweets turn into MULTIPLE days of cake. :)

Jane McDaniel said...

It won’t be hard for me to #beatyesterday because “yesterday” to mean equals two injuries consecutive injuries that prevented me from running NYC. I’m coming back slowly but surely and plan on doing so much smarter this training cycle!

Cecil said...

I plan to #BeatYesterday by getting a nice, slow, long run in today.

Lydia said...

I'll #beatyesterday by lacing up and getting in my miles. Every day that I can add mileage Tomy totals makes it a better day than the day before.

Unknown said...

One positive thought every morning and every night before bed!

Unknown said...

I #beatyesterday by showing up. Even on days where I’m not feeling 100%, I make the effort.

Stacey said...

I plan to #beatyesterday by getting out and active as much as I can, even as it gets colder and snowy.

Unknown said...

I plan to #beatyesterday by not letting one bad moment, choice or workout get me down and set me back! I will use those moments as inspiration to work harder and move forward!

Amber Stephens said...

I plan to bear yesterday by going for a run today! I’ve had a hard time since daylight savings time - especially since my last race a few weeks ago. I have about a month until I start training for my next race, so I’ve allowed myself more rest days than usual.

Unknown said...

I already #beatyesterday because I had track at 5:30am in the freezing cold (I’m a Floridian) and negative split every lap! I’m so excited!

Megan Warzecha said...

I'm coaching myself this time around. I'm a coach, so this isn't crazy, but in the past I've valued that second set of eyes. So far it's been awesome. I schedule all my workouts intuitively. I'm running a long run today instead of Saturday! I'm planning to schedule slightly different speed work and long runs and try out a new approach based on what I've learned about my body's response to stress and rest. And taking the reigns has also given me renewed excitement and confidence that I can #beatyesterday. My goals are to get back some speed and run a half marathon PR. Honestly, the advanced running dynamics and recovery data from the 645m would be AWESOME, and eventually my tiny iPod Shuffle is going to die and I won't be able to replace it!

Kristin Meadows said...

Incorporate strength training consistently. I have been injury ridden for the past year which has been very frustrating. Looking forward to a better 2019!

Audrey Korosec said...

After undergoing major hip surgery 6 weeks ago, beating yesterday for me is getting one more rep of PT, in or one more minute of walking in a pool, or even just listening to my body and giving it more day of rest! It is literally a one day at a time process for me and every day I strive to #beatyesterday!

Nicole Egerer said...

The way I #beatyesterday is kind of old fashioned. I am a visual person so seeing my training calendar on my fridge every day keeps me motivated. I love seeing the little squares fill up with my workouts and see my progress as I train for an event! A full training calendar is a happy calendar!

FireRunner2379 said...

One way I plan to #BeatYesterday is to eat a healthy, well balanced diet. Fueling the body is one of the most important things a runner can do to make positive things happen!

Corrina said...

I'm looking forward to a run tomorrow afternoon, even though I will have just finished working 2 night shifts.

WVRed said...

Get back to a schedule and plan. It worked before. It will work again.

Erika said...

I'm going to set some early running season goals for this upcoming year and train to crush them

Unknown said...

I #beatyesterday by not comparing myself to others. So easy to look at IG and feel bad about not running as much or as fast as someone else. Gotta focus on making me better and moving so I feel good.

Apryl said...

I also upgraded my Garmin because of Battery life! Hoping this one lasts me a while.

Unknown said...

I’m going the #beatyesterday by staying focused! Make a list and stick to completing it as opposed to trying to accomplish things all willy nilly.

I have a new half PR to get, so now until February is focused on training to #beatyesterday

Beating yesterday by actually running or riding. Recovery time is over, time to get back to it.

Ohhh, man...this is on my Christmas wish list! As for beating uesteryes, I'm going to be dialing in my nutrition as yeateryes was full of cookies that have been taking over my home. I'm also going out for a run to woek on speed!

Unknown said...

I plan to #beatyesterday by continuing to let my body recover properly after running CIM 1.5 weeks ago. I FINALLY achieved my time goal of a BQ that would get me into Boston. So now it is time to rest.

Rhett said...

Have a newborn, so everyday is a challenge to get out there and run or work out. But I keep trying to fit it in, so that's the best way I can "beat yesterday" is to keep the mindset strong and hope life catches up (and that I start stroller runs in the spring!)

Stephanie McCrary said...

I want to #beatyesterday by showing my son how strong his Mama can be! I signed up for my first marathon since having him 14 months ago and I’m ready to show him that he can do anything he sets his mind to, because he watched his Mama do it!

I am working to #beatyesterday by getting myself back to my strong me again. Pushing myself to drop a few pounds and find my happy, healthy self.

partyof8 said...

I believe #beatyesterday can mean so much more than running, I will #beatyesterday because Wednesday is my medium long run so literally I have more miles on the calendar....but I can speam with more intentional kindness, be more generous with my time, have an extra dose of patience, forgive quicker, love harder, laugh louder and not get caught up in the busyness that is this season of my life.

Caitlin said...

I'm going to #beatyesterday by incorporating some rest into my routine. I've had a bit of an achy foot recently and in order to prevent a long term injury, I think this will be crucial to ensure I remain healthy so I can continue to tackle my goals!

Unknown said...

I already did! 5.5 miles at 6:00 AM with my BRF! I love early morning runs, you get to beat the day as it's starting!

At 19 weeks pregnant (and counting), everyday that I get out and run or walk is a victory. The way I see it, even if I only take the same number of steps, I am more pregnant than I was the day before. Little Man is going to enjoy running by the time he can take his first steps!

ErinDeGroff said...

Just being consistent in my running routine is a way for me to "beatyesterday.

I’m going to beat yesterday by setting my intention to be more present at work and home so I can focus and get caught up on everything! My stinkin tree needs some decorations for goodness sakes!

I'll be beating yesterday by actually running! Too cold yesterday, but it's above freezing today. :)

I hit my yearly mileage goal in mid-November so I upped my goal and am chasing it hard!

It's time for me to update my Garmin and this would be perfect!

I've been battling an injury for the better part of a year so my running has fallen by the way side. I'm trying to #beatyesterday by getting out there and running just a little a day until I'm back to full capacity!
