Running in the Rain

Today it was supposed to rain.

Earlier this morning my co-worker told me that the rain was supposed to start at 1pm. At 1:05 she mentioned the time and said that it should be coming. I grabbed the 4 packages that I needed to take to UPS and headed out the door. At that point her husband called and said that he was on his way home (he is a general contractor) because it was pouring where he was working.

The UPS store is literally a stones throw away from our office. We are on one corner and they are about kitty-corner from us. I get outside and it starts sprinkling. I decide to walk a bit faster and made it to the first corner to wait for the walk sign. At that point the sky opened up. It was just dumping on me. I ran across the street and hid in the liquor store while I waited for the other light to change. Once that light changed I booked it across the street and down to the UPS Store. I gave them my packages and decided to head back out into the storm.

As I was running back to the office, COMPLETELY SOAKED, I just couldn't help but laugh. I had rain water running off of my nose, my pants and shirt were drenched, and all I could do was smile. Yes, sitting in the office for the rest of the afternoon was slightly chilly and not too comfortable, but hey, I survived.

I remembered those times of playing soccer (practicing and games) in the rain - which was always so much better (AS LONG AS IT WASN'T FREEZING RAIN). Or running around outside in the rain and jumping in puddles. Sometimes I think we get so caught up in life that we forget to run around and dance in the rain.

Don't get me wrong, I love playing in the rain, but if I wasn't stuck in it today while I was running errands, I probably wouldn't have just went out there (especially while I was at work) to just twirl around in it.... BUT MAYBE THAT IS THE PONT... Maybe we need to go out, take a minute and ENJOY LIFE!
