American Pickers to pay Oceanside surf museum a visit

OCEANSIDE — The California Surf Museum in Oceanside and San Diego County’s north shore will be featured in an upcoming episode of “American Pickers,” a popular antique show on The History Channel.

The TV show follows “pickers” Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz as they search for relics of America’s past across the country.

The episode in which the museum is featured focuses on the hunt for surf memorabilia in San Diego County.

To thank the museum for its help, the show donated one of its artifacts to the museum, according to a news release — a Plastic Fantastic Stinger surfboard made in the early 1970s. The board is significant in the evolution of surfboard design and had been missing from the museum’s collection.

The show will air at 9 p.m. March 28. The museum is at 312 Pier View Way.
