Cabrillo, other parks offer free admission
All national parks that typically charge entrance fees, including the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma, will offer free admission tomorrow and Sunday, and again Aug. 15 and 16.
The promotion is part of an effort by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit national parks.
There are 391 such sites across the country, including 147 that usually charge admission fees of $3 to $25.
Fees for activities such as camping, tours and concessions are not altered by the entrance-fee waiver.
But many of the parks' partners – such as tour operators, hotels, restaurants and gift shops – plan to offer additional discounts and promotions.
