Workout Recap - Week 29

Sunday, July 16th  9 mile run with the hubby

Monday, July 17th – 60 minutes on the stationary bike

Tuesday, July 18th –  3 mile run

Wednesday, July 19th – 6 mile run

Thursday, July 20th – 3.13 mile run

Friday, July 21st   Rest Day

Saturday, July 22nd – 6 mile run

My first official "cut back" week of this training cycle (where you dial back the mileage to let your body heal and recover) is complete. Technically I "only" had 8 miles on the calendar for my Sunday long run, but I didn't realize I had 6 miles on last Wednesday and only did 5 (not to mention the hubby had 9 for Sunday so I just ran with him). The rest of my runs were fine (nothing to write home about), but my body is still getting used to my new antidepressant, so had a couple emergency potty stops I had to make in the middle of my runs (which is why I've been doing a lot of them on our neighborhood hills or by the beach where there are plenty of public restrooms). Runners never think talking about bathroom activities is TMI ;)

Walt Wednesday

Some people do a "Wordless Wednesday" post, where they simply share a photo or image, but I thought I'd make a little series out of my Wednesdays. And since I love alliteration so much, why not go with Walt Wednesdays (obviously everyone can use a little break from the seriousness, scariness and sassiness of life - and what better way to help put a smile on your face than with a cute wiener dog picture, am I right?!)... So, without further ado...

Workout Recap - Week 28

Sunday, July 9th  11 mile run

Monday, July 10th – Rest Day

Tuesday, July 11th –  3 mile run

Wednesday, July 12th – 5 mile progression run

Thursday, July 13th – 3 mile run

Friday, July 14th   Rest Day

Saturday, July 15th – 6 mile run

Feeling good, feeling strong. I had two missteps this week. First, I was supposed cross train on Monday (when I normally bike), but I was tired and slept in instead. Second, I didn't look at my plan and assumed Wednesday's run was 5 miles, since that's what it was last week, but it was supposed to be 6 (oopsy). The hubby has 9 miles on his schedule for Sunday and I have 8, so I figured if I do 9 with him I'll even out the one I missed on Wednesday ;) Other than that I had added in some extra hills and have been feeling strong on them. Here's to a slow and steady improvement week after week.

Workout Recap - Week 27

Sunday, July 2nd  Rest Day

Monday, July 3rd – 8 mile run with the hubby

Tuesday, July 4th –  5 mile run

Wednesday, July 5th – 3 mile run

Thursday, July 6th – Rest Day

Friday, July 7th   3 mile run

Saturday, July 8th – 5 mile run

If you remember, I swapped some of my runs around last week because we had friends staying with us over the weekend. So I technically did Sunday's long run on Friday of last week. I also shimmied around my "longer" midweek runs to the beginning of the week since I was off from work which meant I wouldn't have to wake up as early on work days ;) I still need to get better about getting back into the routine of pre-work runs, but I'll take every step forward. Another way to cut down on not having to wake up as early for my runs is running from our house... but the tradeoff is it's VERY hilly. My paces are slower, but I'm hoping these hills are making me a stronger runner. Stoked Week 2 of training is in the books!

Workout Recap - Week 26

Sunday, June 25th  7 mile run with the hubby

Monday, June 26th – 60 minutes on the stationary bike

Tuesday, June 27th –  3 mile run

Wednesday, June 28th – 5 mile run

Thursday, June 29th – Rest Day

Friday, June 30th   10 mile run

Saturday, July 1st – Rest Day

My runs got swapped around a bit. I officially started my training for the Detroit Marathon on Monday, but the hubby had his long run on Sunday (he's training for Hood2Coast before transitioning into the end of the Detroit Half Marathon training plan) so I joined him. Then, since we were having friends come to stay with us I did my Sunday long run on Friday before they came down. Instead of trying to jam a run or two in while they were here (on Saturday and Sunday), I just took an extra rest day. I figured missing a 3 mile run (especially in week one of my training) won't make or break my race ;)
