Font Color

My dad had mentioned that the white was slightly hard to read... I have changed it to red (the links are in black). Let me know if this is easier to read... I was going to change the background and everything while I was at it, but decided to keep this one a bit longer and figured changing the font color would do for now... Hope this helps :)

Lake Michigan Trash

Garbage washing up on Lake Michigan shore

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) -- Hundreds of pounds of garbage have washed onto a 10-mile stretch of Lake Michigan beaches in Manistee and Mason counties.

The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the source of the garbage, which includes medical waste such as prescription drug bottles and even needles.

Petty Officer Ryan Bedes of the Coast Guard station in Manistee says some of the items carry Wisconsin names and addresses.

In Manistee, officials closed a beach where some junk piles were up to eight inches high before crews began hauling it away by the truckload. Authorities have warned people not to touch or swim near the trash.

The local health department took water samples from 21 beaches Monday for analysis.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has sent staffers from the medical waste program to the area.

Long Week

This is going to be a long work week. I am flying out to Michigan on Thursday (around 2:30pm or so) and am making up the time I am missing. I am working 6am to 5pm with a half hour lunch today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Then Thursday I am going to work 6-12. Ryan asked his boss man if he could 'work from home' on Thursday, so he will drive down to San Diego to pick me up from my apartment and take me to the airport. I sure hope that I can get some sleep these next couple nights, I don't want to be tired when I am back in Michigan. :)

Selling

Since Ryan and I will be moving in together in about a month, I have decided to start selling off some of the stuff I have collected over the past couple years so that we don't have multiples of everything. If you know anyone that is looking to buy furniture, household goods, vehicles, etc please let me know. I have posted everything up on Craigslist, so I could send you the links if you are interested in something I may have up.

Apartments

So Ryan and I have been looking for places to move in to after we get married. Because his rent is so cheap (and mine is... well... not) we decided that if we can find a place that would allow me to move in around August 1st that I would move out of my place at the end of July and move in to the new place. I will be commuting down to work for the first two weeks of August, but it is a better decision than having to pay for the full month at a higher rent and have Ryan move out of his cheap place... I don't know if this makes sense as I am explaining it, but it works out better this way. Anyway, we have turned in applications to two places so far. One was in Carlsbad Village. (Note: I have not actually been to either of these places, just have heard second hand through Ryan :) ). It was a 1 bedroom/ 1 bath, but super nice inside (all wood floors, new kitchen, etc etc). Carlsbad Village is a super cool place too (walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theater, etc). The next place is in Oceanside. It is a 2 bedroom/ 1 bath with a garage. It has a new kitchen, paint, carpets, etc. It is about 4 blocks to the transit station, 4 blocks to the farmers market, 6 blocks to the beach, etc.

I am riding the train up to Oceanside to meet with the owner of the 2 bedroom (she wants to meet me because I will be living in the place for 2+ weeks before Ryan moves in, so I guess she just wants to get a feel for me or something). We have already been approved for the Carlsbad Village one, but the more we talk about it, the more we think it might be a little too small for us (with all of Ryan's surfboards, our bikes, his artwork and art stuff). We are leaning more towards the Oceanside one. Once we decide I will be sure to let you all know. :) Wherever we end up we will be happy and can't wait to move in together and start our lives as a married couple :).
