Walt Wednesday

Some people do a "Wordless Wednesday" post, where they simply share a photo or image, but I thought I'd make a little series out of my Wednesdays. And since I love alliteration so much, why not go with Walt Wednesdays (obviously everyone can use a little break from the seriousness, scariness and sassiness of life - and what better way to help put a smile on your face than with a cute wiener dog picture, am I right?!)... So, without further ado...

WALT WEDNESDAY!

Saturday, January 6th – 3.5 mile hike with the hubby and pup, Stretched & Foam Rolled

We'll call Saturday an "active rest day", especially since Walt's hiking speed is like 25:00/mile pace ;) It's sort of crazy to think the majority of the country is freezing its tush off, because we're still able to run in shorts and tees (and sometimes just a sports bras!). But I guess that's why we pay a HIGH sunshine tax... Week 1 of 2018 is DONE - 51 left to go!

Friday Favorites

It appears as though we are now back to our regularly scheduled program posts. The holidays have come and gone, the dust is starting to settle and we are finally getting back into our groove/ routine for the new year. With that, we might as well start up my Friday Favorites post where I share a few of my recent "finds" that I am loving lately. PS I'm always interested to hear what YOU may be digging currently, so make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments!

SpaceX

This one seems random, and it is ;) Two weeks ago, the hubby and I went to our normal Friday night Mexican spot for dinner. On the way home we went by a house that syncs their Christmas lights with music. As we were watching them I saw something strange in the sky... Like, legit, WEIRD! The sun had set and the dark sky had some bright light creeping across it! I had my phone out for pictures of the Christmas lights, so I had to snap a shot of the UFO. If you watch my IG stories, you probably saw the video and heard Ryan and I weirded out by whatever was making its way across the sky. Well, come to find out it was a rocket launch from up in the Santa Barbara area that was placing 10 communication satellites in orbit. I've seen a rocket launch on the East Coast before, but never one at night or in California! It was pretty awesome to see (once we found out what is was that is... because, we may have been under the impression that Santa and his reindeer were lost and Christmas would be cancelled). FYI: People saw it as far east as Phoenix, AZ!

BQ or Bust Take 3

If you don't follow Kelly Roberts, you're missing out! She's a genuine badass who tries her darnedest to use her platform and reach to encourage and empower those around her. Kelly is on a mission to tackle goals that she once thought impossible. She has attempted to qualify for the Boston Marathon two times previously (BQ = Boston Qualifying) but didn't hit the time requirements (still obviously learned a ton along the way) and is back for TAKE 3! You know I obviously subscribe to her YouTube Channel so I can keep up on the vlogs she creates to track her journey, and you should too!

Keep It Wild

Let me be totally honest (which I always try to be, FYI), I HATE Instagram ads... Like if I accidentally double tap one, I'll legit scroll back and un-like it. BUT an IG ad is how I found out about this brand, so I guess they aren't all bad, right?! Keep It Wild appeared in my feed a couple weeks ago and I fell in love. Their stuff SOOOOOOOO cute and awesome (I'm pretty sure I need to win the lottery to be able to order everything on my wish-list)! Not only that, but when I went to their website, I was able to learn more about the company and the amazing stuff they are doing! They use 10% of their funds to fund local wilderness cleanup initiatives. In 2017, the Keep It Wild community removed over 23,000lbs. of trash! Check them out, buy a sticker/ tee/ hat/ blanket, promote responsible exploring of Mother Nature and KEEP IT WILD!

Sparkle Athletic's New Arrivals

Sparkle Athletic has been releasing some new gear recently and it is pretty amazing! I had seen some pictures from the Honolulu Marathon of their pineapple skirt and tank, so when it hit the website I was STOKED! Then they went and announced a skirt that would be PERFECT for the Los Angeles Marathon (seeing as it is the day after St. Patrick's Day) - a shamrock rainbow skirt! And for all the mermaid lovers out there, a new 'leg day' trucker hat is available! Now I just have to decide if I take advantage of the "Buy 5 Get 1 Free" deal or grab the couple that I MUST have immediately ;)

2018 PRO Compression Ambassador

🎶  Guess who's back, back again // Carlee's back, tell a friend 🎶

Yep, I guess you could consider me a bad habit that PRO Compression just can't kick... Because I am lucky enough to be a part of the 2018 PRO Compression Ambassador team - for a FIFTH year in a row! (You would think they would have learned their lesson by now and kicked me to the curb, but apparently 'they like me... they really like me'.)

Source

What does it take to be part of the PRO Compression Ambassador team?! Well, I'm glad you asked! They put together an infographic last year with some of the stats for the 2017 team and I thought it was super interesting and insightful.

Source

PRO tries to find a balance of social media enthusiasts, active athletes in their respective communities, and above all things: a fan of the brand. The program wouldn't be successful (or any fun) if everyone was the same. And, since I've been a part of the crew for many moons, I can attest - this is a super awesome group with so many amazing individuals with their own talents, strengths and personalities. I'm truly honored to have been and continue to be a part of the team.

So here's to another year of running, racing and recovering with PRO Compression along for the ride to #KeepItTight!

REVIEW: Quest Protein Cookies

I may be a day late, but I think I found a New Year's Resolution that most people not only can but WANT TO stick with...

EAT MORE COOKIES!

And before some of you health nuts get all up in arms about it and say that I'm promoting an unhealthy lifestyle (which, let me be clear, I believe you should be able to enjoy anything you'd like in moderation {minus meat... I definitely think you should just cut that out entirely from your diet ;) }), let me be one of the first to share the AMAZING news...

QUEST CREATED A PROTEIN COOKIE!

You read that right... A healthy cookie with 15 grams of protein, up to 12 grams of fiber and only 3 grams or less of sugar. Quest has baked up a soft and chewy batch of their newest craveable protein treat with their Quest Protein Cookie!

Currently they offer three flavors: Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate Chip. (Tried and true flavors, so I totally understand going that route, but if I have a say, I think the next two flavors should be Snickerdoodle and Funfetti.)

Source

If you've been around my corner of the InterWebs for a while, you know I'm normally not a huge sweets person (although the hubby has never met a dessert he didn't like). Nevertheless, I was still super excited to try these puppies out.

I'd say my favorite was Peanut Butter followed by Chocolate Chip which surprised me because I expected Chocolate Chip to come out on top. The hubby said Chocolate Chip was his fave flavor and Peanut Butter would be his second choice.

How cute is the tee that they sent along with the cookies?! It says "eat more cookies" and even has thumb holes!

As always, I was pretty late to the game when it came to Quest Protein Bars, but I know a lot of the OG fans recommend putting the bars in the microwave or oven for a few seconds. Apparently it makes them more like cookies... Well, here you go! You don't even have to warm these babies up (although I'm sure they'd be delicious that way as well)! The consistency is much more like a cookie than a protein bar and the flavors are yummy (remember, they are naturally sweetened).

I was thinking, if you wanted a MAJOR protein dessert, you could make a BOMB ice cream cookie sandwich with some Halo Top ice cream in between two of these guys! (The cookies themselves are a good size, approximately 3 inches in diameter, so think of it as a protein-packed alternative to a Toll House ice cream sandwich ;))

The hubby and I both agree that it feels like you are cheating on your healthy eating lifestyle by pounding one of these (plus there is no funny "healthy" aftertaste that you get with some protein bars). With Quest products, you can eat toward your goals and love every bite along the way. This is a cookie that promises food can taste as good as it is good for you.

Like I mentioned, this is a BRAND NEW PRODUCT, so you might not see them in the next day or two at your local grocery store, but once you see them hit shelves near you, I'd HIGHLY suggest grabbing one (or seven)! Hope you have a delicious and nutritious New Year! PS As of today you can order the protein cookies from the Quest Nutrition website.

Workout Recap - Week 52

Sunday, December 24th – Rest Day, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Monday, December 25th – 12.25 mile run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Tuesday, December 26th – 3.2 mile run with the hubby and sister-in-law

Wednesday, December 27th – 7 mile run with the hubby, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Thursday, December 28th – 11.76 mile run

Friday, December 29th – 4 mile run with the hubby, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Saturday, December 30th – Rest Day, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Okay, so you may have noticed that some of my mid-week runs weren't even numbers like they normally are. I tallied my mileage for the year and wanted to end on an even number, so I played with the miles a bit. #NumberNerd But, I gotta say, I'm still pretty proud of the miles I was able to get in despite having the hubby's side of the family in town for the week.
