Wreath Part 2

So this is what I used to make my first homemade wreath (sorry I didn't take an process shots, but I am probably going to do it again, so I will try and take more pictures then):

Plumbing installation ($1.29 for 6 feet, I think I used about 2 feet - from Lowes):



Replacement Christmas bulbs ($.69 for 8, I used 7 of them - from a thrift store):



Grey yarn ($2.49 for 244 yards, I think I used maybe half - from Michaels):



Total spent (even though I have left overs of all of the parts I used) = $4.47

Now for the pictures of the 'finished' project [the quotes because we haven't hung it yet. It is pretty Christmas-y with the bulbs, so we may wait a couple weeks. Also, I don't know if I want it inside (like on the porch doors) or outside (on the front door)]:





What do you think? Pretty good for my first try, huh? I think next time I may use a pool noodle and see if I like the thicker wreath or the thinner wreath better. I am very proud of what I did! [PS Yes the pictures are from Ry's phone, so they are a little blurry - sorry bout that]

Homemade Wreath

I saw these wreathes on Pintrest the other day and thought they were super cute. I saw notes that people were using pool noodles from the Dollar Store or even pipe installation from hardware stores (about $1 for 6 feet). Ry and I went over to a local thrift store this afternoon and I was on a mission to find fabric or ribbon to make a wreath from. I found some red ribbon and replacement Christmas light bulbs. We then headed to Lowes to pick up 'stick' of plumbing installation (since the local Dollar Store had already packed away their noodles for the summer). I came home and started working on it. Unfortunately the ribbon was a little thick and wasn't laying flat enough on the circle I made for the wreath. On the way home from church we hit up Michaels and I got some grey yarn. While we watched some of the late night football games I wrapped the tube (it took a little longer than I thought it would). Ry helped get the bulbs on the extra string of yarn. It is too late to take pictures tonight, so I guess I will have to post them tomorrow :) It is like a combo of the grey wreath and the white wreath from the picture.

So I jumped along board the Pintrest train. I am not 100% sure on it all, but from what I can gather it is sort of like a picture Facebook. You can "Like" things, which just means you approve of them. You can "Repin" things, which is similar to 'sharing' them on Facebook. And you can "Comment" on things, which just posts a little note underneath the picture. I am sure there are some really big differences, but from just checking it out the last couple days, that is the basic gist of it. It seems super cool for things like Do-It-Yourself projects, art inspiration, wedding ideas, food/ recipes, etc.
