Along with all of the AWESOME things that running brings (like better health, lifts your mood, revs your metabolism, helps with stress relief, gives you energy, boosts creativity, fights depression, increases self-esteem, etc), it also brings some unsuspecting things... One of those things is MORE LAUNDRY! Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE that hubby is running with me (and, honestly, if it means doing 100 times the laundry I would do it in a heartbeat), but when I started running our laundry doubled and then when he started it seemed to double again...
What used to be a load or two every week has quickly turned into at least 4 to 6 loads (depending on the season and bulk of clothes) a week! Not only did the size of the laundry piles grow, but.... um... how do I say this nicely... THE STENCH GREW EXPONENTIALLY AS WELL! I mean, let's be real: SWEAT STINKS! I know there is workout gear out there that says things like "I don't sweat, I sparkle" and although I sparkle WHILE I sweat, I definitely do my fair share of sweating! (THANKS MOM AND DAD! Sweating seems to be a genetic thang...)
Honestly - sometimes I don't even want to touch the clothes... |
One of the AWESOME perks of being a Sweat Pink Ambassador is that I am able to test out some cool products on the market. Recently I was asked to participate in the #SweatHardSmellGreat campaign that they are teaming up with WIN DETERGENT on.
Why WIN is Different - The Science BEHIND the Detergent |
Let me start off by saying hubby has sensitive skin {and a collective "AWWWWWWWW" spread over the crowd}. We normally buy the "natural" or at the very least "odor free" detergents. One of the downfalls of this is that there isn't a perfume smell in the clothes to mask the left over stench that can sometimes get stuck in your workout gear. With that being said I was stoked to see WIN DETERGENT offered a "green" dye- and fragrance-free option.
Once I got the thumbs up from hubby that it was okay to try out both of the new products (I knew it would be his skin and comfort level that would be effected most, so I wanted to get the green light from him before using it on his stuff as well) I got right to the task.
As I mentioned, it feels like we ALWAYS have laundry to do, so these bottles didn't sit idle for long (like honestly, maybe 2 days...).
As corny as this is... I'm gonna say it any way... It was a WIN for WIN DETERGENT! (I know, I'm PUNNY!) After using the WIN DETERGENT I felt like our running gear was clean and funk free (I've been using it for about 3 weeks thus far, so probably 5+ loads of each version)! The blue detergent has a fresh smell, while the green detergent is dye and odorless and STILL cleans the clothes! Both of the options helped to remove the smells and oils that had been embedded in our athletic gear after multiple wears (and even multiple washes). I love that the detergents are made in the USA. Another great feature? You can buy it on Amazon, so if you don't even have to leave the house (because, let's be honest, sometimes the laundry piles are just THAT BIG and you can't get away) to buy more!
OH SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!! The funk is GONE!! |
The only "con" I had is more about the bottle/ packaging, not about the product itself (there is a second lid, which means there is extra plastic and also the lid you use to measure the product gets the lid underneath soapy if there is any remaining detergent when you put it back on).
AND NOW YOU CAN WIN TWO BOTTLES OF WIN DETERGENT (one regular and one green)! Make sure to enter the Rafflecopter below.

I use tide sport w/ febreeze. It works pretty well, but I could still use something to get the "funk" out!
I've never tried a sports clothes detergent, but it's time. I've had similiar issues to you (linger off smell on clean clothes) and my other half has sensitive skin as well.
I have never used it but would love to.
I don't currently use a sports specific detergent, but I'm sure my clothes would appreciate it if I did! The other day I actually pulled a favorite running top out of the laundry and it actually still smelled...I'm pretty sure it's permanent! Ugh, time to get rid of that one!
I haven't found a detergent that I think does a good job yet, so I'm hopeful about WIN :)
No, I don't use but I desperately need to!
Nope, just plain tide
I just use tide and downy on my clothes. Nothing too nasty leftover.
I use Sport Tide occasionally, and it does help. I have been wanting to try WIN though! I've heard it's awesome!
I love WIN and could use two more bottles!
I use sport suds right now.. I have used Tide Sport also...
I have never used a sports detergent and just use Tide normally.
I use Tide or Tide sport with febreeze, but I know I could find something better to use!
I've never used anything special. Just some oxyclean and detergent.
I use Tide Pods. They seem to do the trick. Would really like to try WIN though. I've heard nothing but good things about it!
I've never used sports detergent but I probably should haha
I have never used sports detergent, but I usually add baking soda into my tech gear.
I need some of this detergent! I've heard such great things! Thanks for the giveaway darling!
Never used sports detergent and would enjoy trying it!
I use just regular soap...would love to try!
We got a new HE washer and dryer earlier in the year, which I think helps with the stink. I bought a sports detergent, but haven't had to use it yet, as the detergent we currently use has been working well.
I currently use ALL mightly pacs, but I would love to try WIN Detergent!
Honestly, I just use regular Tide. I would love to try this, though.
I don't use sports detergent. I just add vinegar to my wash when something is really stinky
I use Tide and add some vinegar to the wash.
I just use regular Tide, which has been working fine for my own workout stuff... But I'd love to try the detergent on my husband's running shirts ;)
I'm just a Tide user too.

I just use tide.
I've only been using my Tide detergent and it work fine. It work for my brother also and his clothes is all dirty and smelly after his weekend away.
I don't but I use amonia to help get the smell out.
I find that the Tide for cold water works pretty good for my workout clothes. My husband's though...
I've used WIN and love how it gets the stink out!
I use Tide sport with Febreze and it seems to work great for the most part, except for a couple shirts...
I've used Tide Sport because that's what my boyfriend has bought. I think it does work a bit better than some of the regular detergents when it comes to stinky workout clothes.
I don't use a sport detergent. I reaaally need to though! Stinky! Lol
I've never gone out of my way to use a "sports" detergent, though I finally stopped using fabric softener on our running gear.
Last night could change things, though. The shirt I grabbed from the drawer was DRENCHED in detergent apparently. I smelled like lavender the whole time I ran.
I haven't foind a detergent that gets all the stink out, I need to try WIN!
I don't use sports detergent regularly. For stinky loads I put in some Oxyclean.
I actually do use sports detergent. I love Win!
I've only used Tide Sport... it works okay... but definitely better than regular Tide!
I've always been a Tide girl, but after reading this I'm super curious in the difference using WIN would make on my soaked in sweat running and hot yoga clothes
