It's all about the small victories, right? This morning I have had a small victory. This world is often a negative place, often reminding me how small I am, and how one person won't make a difference (whether it is by recycling, not eating meat, walking instead of driving, etc). This morning I got a little reminder that one person can make a difference - even if it is just in one person's life.
I posted my journals from Haiti on my Haiti blog. Don't feel like you have to read it all (there were about 70 pages that I typed up), I know it can probably be very overwhelming. Anyway, I got a couple comments back about my journal (and thoughts) and it just really reminded me that what you do CAN (and DOES) make a difference!!
"Carlee, I just started reading your blog and got to this post. You are so thoughtful and have such amazing insight. I am very honored to know someone as caring and truly Christian as you. I admire your help and your ability to remember this isn't about us and our contributions... it is about letting God work through us to help our brothers and sisters in need. So many people talk about their Christianity. What's that saying... something about going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to the garage makes you a car? Well you went to Haiti because people needed you and you did it for all the right reasons. I am very humbled by that. "
"Carlee, I just read some of your blog posts. Made me cry... THANK YOU for posting and for sharing yourself with the people of Haiti in such a time of need. I am very humbled. "
"carleegoingtohaiti.blogspot.com --- I really loved reading this journal today. Put so much back into perspective for me Carlee and as I said, I am very humbled. I need those reality checks."
"I just wanted you to know that I think that your journal was beautiful and honest. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for sharing it."
