Day 5 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

And no matter how long you've been visiting, you picked an AMAZING time to pop in because we're celebrating my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas {read my post announcing this series HERE if you don't know what I'm talking about}.

Today is Day 5 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas! And the prize today is pretty FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC! Although, to be honest, all of the prizes are absolutely AMAZEBALLS! If I could enter my own giveaways I'm pretty sure I would enter each and every one of them in this series (and somehow rig it so I'd win) because they are just that AWESOMESAUCE.

Up for grabs today are: 5 Rolflex PROs.

For today, DAY FIVE, five winner will be randomly selected, each winning Rolflex PRO.

If you've been around my corner of the InterWebs for any period of time, you know I am just as serious about recovery as I am about training. Rest and self-care are part of the program! And I'm always looking for ways to aid my running, which could be anything from a new stretch to a strength training workout. That's where the Rolflex™ comes in!

Source

Think of Rolflex™ as the foam roller re-imagined. It was designed to provide an easy way to amplify pressure using the power of leverage to effectively apply pressure anywhere on the body, as needed. The intuitive design of the Rolflex™ allows users to relieve the tight overused muscles that come from doing any sport, job or activity. It was specifically designed based on the anatomy and biomechanics of the human body. The unique shape provides awesome leverage with laser-focused pressure without restricting motion, creating an unparalleled therapeutic release of tension.

Around the time I learned about the Rolflex™, the hubby was looking for something to help his weary climbing muscles. It's difficult to use something like The Stick one handed when trying to roll out your forearms (I'm not always up or available when he gets home from the gym). This has been a Godsend to him and he is STOKED to have been introduced to it! (Although he loves using it for his arms, neck and traps, he recently finished his THIRD marathon and has also really appreciated using it on his calves, quads and IT band. #AndHeSaysHeIsntARunner ;) )

I personally love using the Rolflex™ in conjunction with my foam roller, but I could totally see it being a one stop shop. Currently I use my roller on my quads and IT band, but then use the Rolflex™ to get more targeted areas like my calves and feet. I've found it easier to use since you don't have to hold your bodyweight up with your arms and simply pinch the contraption to get more leverage and precision. You can really dig in and get those spots that need the attention/ focus.

PS Can we talk about how easy it is to pack this when you are on the go?! No need for a mat to lay on,
just grab the cinch bag and go! And you can do most of the options either seated or standing - SCORE!

The website is super helpful. The Rolflex™ has user guides with suggestions on how to use it for different muscles, but the website allows you to click on specific areas on the body you want to target and will pull up instructional videos.

Because both the hubby and I have found it super easy and convenient (although, let's be honest, just like with the foam roller, we tend to have a love/hate relationship with it), we have both been using it very frequently. We will reach for it so we can randomly use it while sitting in the living room watching football or throw it in the car when we head out for a morning run. The hubby even has talked me into allowing him to have one that stays his climbing gear all the time.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the Rolflex™ in my pictures is slightly different from the new pictures on the website - and that's because it has recently been updated! When we first came across the brand, they offered an "Original" and "Pro" model. The Pro model had new dual stability rollers (as opposed to the single support roller) to allow for even deeper trigger point therapy and more balanced approach with pinpoint accuracy than the Original—relaxing muscles and alleviating pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. The Pro’s ergonomic design enables you to effectively self-massage over nearly every muscle of the body, including hard-to-reach areas such as elbows and knees. The newest update (with the yellow therapy roller) is 30% more dense/ firm than the prior green roller. You can still deliver a softer self massage by applying less pressure, but you can really dig in deep to get great trigger point work with the harder roller.

I love spreading the word about local companies (they're located just up the street in San Marcos), but it's even better when they have a product that I believe in and stand behind! Both the hubby and I are stoked to have found Rolflex™ and I know our bodies are better (and much happier) for it as well! We will definitely be using it for years to come.

Entering this giveaway (along with the other #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas giveaways) is easy-peasy! Simply use the Rafflecopter widget listed below on the giveaway blog post and cross your fingers. Some entries are available daily so I'd HIGHLY recommend entering early and often. (Shoot, I would even go as far as suggesting you set an alarm to remind you to come back to this page every 24 hours so you can take advantage of as many entries as possible!)

a Rafflecopter giveaway Now, the nitty gritty details... All entries are verified, so please make sure to do whatever the required action for the entry is or it will be disqualified. I would hate for you to miss out on winning due to a technicality, so if you are going to click the option, make sure you do whatever it asks or a new, random winner will be selected in your place.

Also, this giveaway will last seven days, with the random winners being picked (and notified) on the eighth day. The winners will have 24 hours to reply to the congratulations email from me to claim their prize. That means, for this giveaway, it will end on December 11th at 11:59pm PST and the FIVE winners will be chosen on December 12th.

And, finally, the winners must have a US mailing address. International shipping seems to cost an arm and a leg these days, and customs is a major headache, so to make it easier (and cheaper) on the brands who have offered up their products, the winners must live in United States of America (or at least have an address we can ship to within the US).

With that said, BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERS! And don't forget to stop back tomorrow to see what is up next in my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas (I promise you do NOT want to miss out on any of these giveaways!)!

Day 4 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

And no matter how long you've been visiting, you picked an AMAZING time to pop in because we're celebrating my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas {read my post announcing this series HERE if you don't know what I'm talking about}.

Today is Day 4 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas!

Up for grabs today are: 4 nuun immunity Prize Packs.

For today, DAY FOUR, four winners will each win 2 tubes of nuun immunity: orange citrus and 2 of blueberry tangerine.

I will be the first to admit that for the majority of the time, I tend to hydrate with water. This isn't a huge deal, well, until you are sweating. Science wasn't my favorite subject, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be surprised to know that sweat contains more than just standard H2O, which means you need to replenish more than that during and after your workouts.

Source

One of the 'things' you need to refill are electrolytes. Electrolytes play a key function in maintaining fluid balance, and supporting normal body function - can you say 'importante'?! [that's 'important 'in Spanish; another non-favorite subject].

Source

That's where nuun comes in! nuun contains an optimal blend of electrolytes which keeps you hydrated for all levels of activities - whether you're running a marathon or a marathon of errands. The hydration aid comes in tablet form, so it's easy to pack for racecations or throw in a desk drawer to have after a sweaty runch. [For those of you who've never tried it, it's less of a 'sports drink, in-your-face' sort of taste, but if you like more flavor, just add an extra tablet or two.]

Source

And seeing as this is the time of the year when folks often get sick (due to the colder temps, being run down from the lack of sleep and the busyness of the season, eating less than ideal at holiday parties, etc), I thought featuring the new nuun immunity line for the giveaway would be PERFECT! nuun's immunity propriety mix of botanicals and electrolytes aids in the protection of your immune system. With a balance of anti-inflammatories (including turmeric & ginger), free-radical fighting antioxidants (such as elderberry & echinacea), and their hydration-optimized blend of electrolytes, nuun immunity packs a triple punch in supporting immune health and protecting against common cold and flu symptoms.

During the summer I tend to be better about hydrating (maybe it's because I sweat a lot, and when I sweat it triggers a reminder that I need to be replenishing what my body is losing), but it's often just plain water. I was stoked to mix it up a bit while trying to boost my immune system (because, let's be real, as awesome as H2O is, it can get a little boring).

Source

Each tablet contains: elderberry extract - plant-based antioxidant / organic turmeric - plant-based anti-inflammatory + antioxidant / echinacea purpurea - plant-based antioxidant / organic ginger powder - plant-based anti-inflammatory / zinc/selenium - antioxidants / vitamins a, c, d and e - antioxidants / electrolytes - magnesium, potassium, chloride, calcium, sodium / organic sugar - binder, sweetener, helps facilitate absorption of vitamins/minerals / citric acid - plays key role in effervescence, used for production / stevia leaf extract - zero-calorie, plant-based sweetener / avocado oil - clean, plant-based oil for production / rice concentrate - flow agent/anti-clumping agent, used for production.

Source

I'm not a doctor (nor do I play one on TV), so I'm not 100% sure about the exact science, but it seems like this may be able to help a sista (or brotha) out! Sip on at your desk, rehydrate with it after an evening run, or even make a hot tea with it if you feel under the weather. A healthy immune system starts with proper hydration, so let's get our drink on!

Day 3 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

And no matter how long you've been visiting, you picked an AMAZING time to pop in because we're celebrating my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas {read my post announcing this series HERE if you don't know what I'm talking about}.

Today is Day 3 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas!

Up for grabs today are: 3 Handful Bras.

For today, DAY THREE, three winners will be randomly selected, each winning a Handful bra of their choice.

Although there is much debate as to whether or not a runner should wear under garments on their bottom half, the need for over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders for females while running is a MUST! And finding said garment can be tricky.

Source

I was introduced to Handful bras years ago and haven't looked back since. I'l be the first to admit (especially since I would consider myself a self proclaimed 'Frugal Fred'), they cost a pretty penny, but they're worth every cent (and not just because I've been an ambassador for them in the past, I was rocking these bras for years before they asked me to be part of their team and have continued even though I'm no longer officially part of the crew)! Not only do they #FlatterNotFlatten (say goodbye to the unfortunate unaboob), but they come with removable Lights Out™ pads, offer flat seams on the inside for added comfort, have performance wicking lining and the adjustable bras allow customization of the strap length and strap configuration {can be X-back, straight or tied up as a halter}. Although I'm partial to the Adjustable Bra, they offer three other models as well - the Y-Back Bra, the Bound and Determined Bra and the Now and Zen Bra.

As a part of the #SportsBraSquad (which, let me remind you, I joined very reluctantly because I do not always love the way my body looks, but when it is hot and humid and you sweat through your shirt before you start your run, you've gotta do something), I am STOKED to have found a sports bra that not only looks great, but makes me feel great!

Workout Recap - Week 48

Sunday, November 25th – 10K run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Monday, November 26th – 75 minutes on the stationary bike, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Tuesday, November 27th – 4 mile run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Wednesday, November 28th – 10.10 mile run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Thursday, November 29th – 10 mile run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Friday, November 30th  Rest Day, Stretched & Foam Rolled

Saturday, December 1st – 10 mile run, Stretched & Foam Rolled

This week was technically a lower mileage week because next weekend I'm supposed to have a 50K on the calendar. I haven't found an actual race to fit into my schedule, so I'll be tackling the 31 miles on my own... My legs have felt pretty heavy, but heavy isn't painful and heavy isn't injured, just tired - which is what you'd expect with ultra training, right?!

How were your workouts this past week?

Day 2 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

And no matter how long you've been visiting, you picked an AMAZING time to pop in because we're celebrating my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas {read my post announcing this series HERE if you don't know what I'm talking about}.

Today is Day 2 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas!

Up for grabs today are: 2 ROAD iD Prize Packs
(including a trucker hat and three stretch bands).

For today, DAY TWO, two winners will each receive a ROAD iD Trucker Hat and a set of three ROAD iD Stretch Bands.

When I started running I knew I needed to make sure I had safety nets in place (not only in case something happened, but also to alleviate the worry from my mom and hubby). One of my first running purchases (after shoes) was a ROAD iD

I guess you can tell I like some "wrist candy" ;)

I wish I could say nothing bad will ever happen to you, but I don't have a magical crystal ball that allows me to see into the future. The best thing to do is to pray that everything is rainbows and unicorns, but also prepare in case something unfortunate does occur. One way to be prepared (especially for us runners, bikers, adventurers, etc) is to have a ROAD iD. This little ID can talk for you if you are ever unable to talk for yourself. You can put all of your pertinent information on it (name, phone number, emergency contact, medical information, etc) just in case an accident does occur.
The brand's mission is two-fold: One, to educate outdoor enthusiasts about the importance of wearing ID. Two, to provide these athletes with innovative identification products that they will want to include as part of their gear. Their dream is to see the day where wearing ID is as common among athletes as wearing a seatbelt is among motorists.

For the past 5ish years I've been rocking the Sport ID (I have tiny wrists and those were the only ones I could small enough). I legit have seven colors (because you know I have to be #RunMatchy with my running gear, right?!).

I finally upgraded to the Elite ID a few months back and am STOKED! Not only do you get to cut the band as long as you need so it fits specifically on your wrist, but they also have fun badges you can add to customize your ID (I have one with a heart and one that says 'run')! Now if I could just get them to bring back to aqua/ turquoise colored band I'd be all set ;)

I normally don't wear it upside-down, but didn't want everyone having my personal
info... #CanNeverBeTooCareful

And before I get on with the giveaway, I have to brag a little more about this company. At ROAD iD, they truly believe in making a positive difference in the world. They mainly do this by creating awesome products that save lives and empower adventure, but they also love supporting causes they believe in and that share their mission. You see, giving back isn’t some secondary obligation - it’s a core value and a reason to exist. “Unicorns” is their pledge to donate a percentage of every order to a worthy organization, and since these donations cannot occur without your purchase, they let YOU DECIDE which charity benefits. In your shopping cart, simply select the charity closest to your heart and they do the rest. They have donated more than $1,000,000, and with your help, there’s plenty more where that came from!

Source

Well, not only does ROAD iD offer wrist IDs, shoe IDs and even pet IDs, but they also have apparel! For this giveaway, they have offered up two prize packs - each with one of their new trucker hats and three of their logo stretchy bands! (PS The bands contain a "Goldilocks Guarantee"... Each size pack contains three band sizes to ensure a perfect fit.)

Day 1 of #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas

Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of the InterWebs today. Whether you've been following along on my journey since I started this blog OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO or you stopped by for the first time today - WELCOME!

Today is Day 1 of my #12DaysOfCarleesChristmas! Up for grabs today is: 1 $100 gift card for
Sarah Marie Design Studio

For today, DAY ONE, one random winner will be selected, winning a $100 gift card for Sarah Marie Design Studio.

I've been a fan of SMDS for like... EVER! Although, to be honest, recently the hubby and I have been trying to simplify our lives, which means less stuff, so I haven't ordered anything new in a while since I'm trying to keep my purchasing to a minimum (another reason is because I love like EVERYTHING and if I buy one thing, I'll have to buy at least ten things).

With that said, I'm lucky enough to have a few pieces in my closet and rock them often (maybe that means I'll be able to justify replacing them soon, right?! Or maybe Santa will pop by my post before Christmas... #ISwearImOnTheNiceList).

Let's just say when my last order arrived it was a love at first sight! In the past I haven't been one for muscle tees, but lately I can't get enough (I love rocking them with a Handful bra so I still feel covered, but can add a extra pop of color). And I'm pretty sure the saying on this was PERFECT for when I attempted to PR at my fall goal marathon, right?!

Although Mother Nature was a rude lady and unrelenting this summer, I am stoked for it to be sweatshirt weather soon!

And tell me this tank isn't an absolute MUST-HAVE! I mean... I literally live in it while the hubby and I are adventuring. #WhoUsesThePhoneToActuallyCallAnymore #NotMe #PleaseJustText (The design comes in a sweatshirt too! #Need)

I can't forget about the AWESOME Steve Prefontaine pin. I had to hide it when it arrived because the hubby tried to steal it. So freakin' amazing! Legit, this is my fave pin EVER! (But the Shalane one is a close second with the Meb one in third.)

And let's chat about the moisture wicking hat! Normally I run in a trucker, but this is totally a step up in my headgear game! It even has UV protection in the fabric - SCORE! PS Word on the street is more truckers are in the works - awwww yeah!

PS Please ignore the fact that the bill isn't straight... I had just rocked the hat on an 18-miler (in 80% humidity) and was a little disheveled.

Now, if only Sarah had a "Run all the miles, Eat all the chips and salsa" shirt I'd be all set! But really, Sarah, hint hint ;)

One of the awesome things about this giveaway is you get to choose your own adventure. You get $100 to use towards whatever you would like to order - pins, tanks, drinkware, sweatshirts, hats, jewelry, nail wraps, bags, greeting cards, etc!
