Saturday, August 19th – 17 mile run

This might be the first and only time I have to say this, but the reason I had two "long runs" (Sunday and then Saturday) was due to a HURRICANE! Yep, SoCal had Hurricane Hilary estimated to hit the area (well, it was expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it made its way to us) sometime between Saturday evening and Monday, so I decided to do my Sunday run Saturday morning and then I could either do my Saturday 8-miler on Sunday or if I had to miss one run I preferred it being the 8 vs the 17. Well, Saturday's run was less than stellar for quite a few reasons. First, I normally do my long runs on Sunday because it gives me a day in between having to work all week and be on my feet at the running store, so my body was fatigued. Then, Walt woke me up around 1:30am (and every 20-30 minutes after that until about 5am) because he had diarrhea and needed to keep going outside, which led to terrible "sleep". Not to mention with the tropical storm on its way the humidity was through the roof and the high humidity tends to zap my energy. As you can see from my splits on Saturdays run, it was the tale of two halves... I couldn't get my handheld to stop leaking (like I said, quite the comedy of errors), so by mile 10 I was out of water, which meant I just walked the last 6-7 miles back to the house. Hey, at least it was time on feet - but definitely not how I was expecting it to go. And, yes, that's a sweat angel ;)

How were your workouts this past week?
