REVIEW: WIN Detergent (& GIVEAWAY)

As some of you may know, I started running about two and a half years ago. I was looking for something I could call "mine" and I guess you can say IT STUCK! As my passion for running grew, others around me have caught the bug as well. I have run a couple 5Ks with my parents and even talked hubby into training for half marathons (he did 2 last year and actually has 3 more coming up in the next 3 months - read that as HE IS A ROCKSTAR).

Along with all of the AWESOME things that running brings (like better health, lifts your mood, revs your metabolism, helps with stress relief, gives you energy, boosts creativity, fights depression, increases self-esteem, etc), it also brings some unsuspecting things... One of those things is MORE LAUNDRY! Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE that hubby is running with me (and, honestly, if it means doing 100 times the laundry I would do it in a heartbeat), but when I started running our laundry doubled and then when he started it seemed to double again...

What used to be a load or two every week has quickly turned into at least 4 to 6 loads (depending on the season and bulk of clothes) a week! Not only did the size of the laundry piles grow, but.... um... how do I say this nicely... THE STENCH GREW EXPONENTIALLY AS WELL! I mean, let's be real: SWEAT STINKS! I know there is workout gear out there that says things like "I don't sweat, I sparkle" and although I sparkle WHILE I sweat, I definitely do my fair share of sweating! (THANKS MOM AND DAD! Sweating seems to be a genetic thang...)

Honestly - sometimes I don't even want to touch the clothes...

One of the AWESOME perks of being a Sweat Pink Ambassador is that I am able to test out some cool products on the market. Recently I was asked to participate in the #SweatHardSmellGreat campaign that they are teaming up with WIN DETERGENT on.

I was sent two full size bottles of WIN DETERGENT - one regular and one green. I've never used a laundry detergent specifically for sports fabrics, so I was STOKED to give it a try! (Although I wash my running gear every time I use it, it sometimes seems like the "funk" is still stuck in the clothes even when they are "clean".)

The Science of WIN Detergent
Why WIN is Different - The Science BEHIND the Detergent

Let me start off by saying hubby has sensitive skin {and a collective "AWWWWWWWW" spread over the crowd}. We normally buy the "natural" or at the very least "odor free" detergents. One of the downfalls of this is that there isn't a perfume smell in the clothes to mask the left over stench that can sometimes get stuck in your workout gear. With that being said I was stoked to see WIN DETERGENT offered a "green" dye- and fragrance-free option.

Once I got the thumbs up from hubby that it was okay to try out both of the new products (I knew it would be his skin and comfort level that would be effected most, so I wanted to get the green light from him before using it on his stuff as well) I got right to the task.

As I mentioned, it feels like we ALWAYS have laundry to do, so these bottles didn't sit idle for long (like honestly, maybe 2 days...).

As corny as this is... I'm gonna say it any way... It was a WIN for WIN DETERGENT! (I know, I'm PUNNY!) After using the WIN DETERGENT I felt like our running gear was clean and funk free (I've been using it for about 3 weeks thus far, so probably 5+ loads of each version)! The blue detergent has a fresh smell, while the green detergent is dye and odorless and STILL cleans the clothes! Both of the options helped to remove the smells and oils that had been embedded in our athletic gear after multiple wears (and even multiple washes). I love that the detergents are made in the USA. Another great feature? You can buy it on Amazon, so if you don't even have to leave the house (because, let's be honest, sometimes the laundry piles are just THAT BIG and you can't get away) to buy more!

OH SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!! The funk is GONE!!

The only "con" I had is more about the bottle/ packaging, not about the product itself (there is a second lid, which means there is extra plastic and also the lid you use to measure the product gets the lid underneath soapy if there is any remaining detergent when you put it back on).

AND NOW YOU CAN WIN TWO BOTTLES OF WIN DETERGENT (one regular and one green)! Make sure to enter the Rafflecopter below.

  1. I use tide sport w/ febreeze. It works pretty well, but I could still use something to get the "funk" out!

  2. I've never tried a sports clothes detergent, but it's time. I've had similiar issues to you (linger off smell on clean clothes) and my other half has sensitive skin as well.

  4. I don't currently use a sports specific detergent, but I'm sure my clothes would appreciate it if I did! The other day I actually pulled a favorite running top out of the laundry and it actually still smelled...I'm pretty sure it's permanent! Ugh, time to get rid of that one!
