Nail & Sail

Nail and Sail from genpren on Vimeo.

We'll be there tomorrow :)

New Fin

Ryan wanted to get a new fin for his longboard for his birthday. Aaron, his awesome sister, sent him a check that he would be able to use to buy the new fin. We went over to The Pod Room this afternoon to pick it up (we would have got it at the actual Captain Fin's store but their inventory was low due to the trade show they just went to). Ryan is out in the garage putting it on his board now (so I am sure he will take more pictures when it is on.

The fin is exactly what Ryan wanted - Frankenstein!

Thanks for making your brother a stoked surfer Aaron :)

Go Michigan!

We found a sports bar that was playing the Big Ten Network - Rookies. We went over there at about 9am and met Austin over there. There were only a few of us in the bar for the first half or so, but more fans started filling in after a while. Michigan had a good game (the defense needs to improve and FINISH tackles and 'Shoelace' needs to learn how to throw without interceptions if he wants to be the quarterback we were hoping for). I think we will definitely end up at Rookies a few more times this season if the game isn't showing on our TV.

This afternoon we also watched USC lose to Washington - LOVE IT!

Pot Plants

Massive pot operation discovered in San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Sheriff's deputies have discovered a marijuana field in the Cleveland National Forest that authorities are calling one of the largest illegal-growth operations found in San Diego County.

A sheriff's deputy spotted the field containing as many as 51,000 plants late last week. The final plants were removed Thursday from the remote mountain area south of Paso Picacho campground in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Amy Roderick says the plants covered the size of a football field and could produce 25 to 50 tons of marijuana, with a potential street value of $300 million.

Roderick says most of the pot will be destroyed with a portion kept as evidence.

Officials say there have been no arrests.

Heat Wave

The heat wave is a comin'... They are saying 10-20 degrees HOTTER than normal next week... Maybe I will head back in the ocean for a little boogie boarding :) (I thought maybe I was done for the season, hehe)

... HEAT WAVE TO IMPACT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA NEXT WEEK...

STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE WESTERN STATES EARLY NEXT WEEK AND BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HOT WEATHER THROUGH FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES NEXT WEEK WILL BE 10 TO 20 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE WITH RECORD HIGHS POSSIBLE.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC THIS WEEKEND AND MOVE OVER OREGON MONDAY. THE HIGH WILL STRENGTHEN AND MOVE SOUTHEAST OVER THE GREAT BASIN TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. DRY NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND THE HIGH WILL INCREASE THE OFFSHORE FLOW AND BRING HOT... DRY WEATHER TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

COOLEST AREAS WILL BE THE BEACHES WHERE HIGHS WILL MOSTLY BE IN THE 80S. BUT JUST A MILE OR TWO INLAND THE HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 90S. FARTHER INLAND... VALLEY AND FOOTHILL HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 95 TO 110. MOUNTAIN HIGHS WILL RANGE FROM 100 DEGREES AT 3000 FEET TO AROUND 80 DEGREES AT 6000 FEET.

IN THE HIGH DESERTS... AFTERNOON HIGHS WILL RANGE FROM 95 TO 105. IN THE LOWER DESERTS THE HIGHS WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 110.

THE HOT... DRY CONDITIONS AND WEAK OFFSHORE FLOW PATTERN WILL ELEVATE THE FIRE DANGER NEXT WEEK. THE OFFSHORE WINDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE VERY STRONG WITH THIS EVENT. HOWEVER... THE COMBINATION OF TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT... SINGLE DIGIT HUMIDITIES... AND VERY DRY FUELS WILL ELEVATE THE FIRE HAZARD POTENTIAL NEXT WEEK.

THE HIGH IS FORECAST TO BREAK DOWN FOR GRADUAL COOLING NEXT WEEKEND.

PREVENT HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEATSTROKE BY AVOIDING STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY. WEAR LIGHT-COLORED AND LOOSE-FITTING CLOTHING AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. NEVER LEAVE PEOPLE OR PETS IN ENCLOSED AUTOMOBILES... EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME

Glee

I don't know if I have made my mind up about this show yet, Glee. I was super excited about it when I saw the previews last spring. I watched the pilot and thought it was alirhgt. I have watched it the last two weeks and found it entertaining, but not sure if I will stay up late to watch it week after week (I mean I do have to wake up around 4:$5am, so I would prefer to go to bed after So You Think You Can Dance if it isn't great TV).

Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

A little bit about the show:

The series follows an optimistic teacher, WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison), who - against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach - attempts to save McKinley High's Glee Club from obscurity, while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential. It's a tall order when the brightest stars of the group include KURT (Chris Colfer), a soprano who hits a high note in fashion; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a larger-than-life diva with a voice to match; ARTIE (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist who rocks and rolls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker who hides behind her stutter and blue hair extensions.

Check out more about it here.
