Weekend ADVENTURES

I am so excited about this weekend. I am meeting a girl at lunch to get the tickets to go to DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES!! HURRAY!! If you don't know what the park is, here is the link:

I love theme parks, well not Universal (bitter feelings, grrrrr), and get all gitty like a little kid when I get to go to them (check out the Disney pictures from the summer under 'MyPhotos' link). I am sure Ryan and I will take plenty of photos, hopefully we will get to see some fun characters on our journey!! California Adventures is next to Disneyland but is a separate park - it has The Tower of Terror, Rockin' California Screamin' and many other things (check out all the fun things at the site). Haha, the last time I was at Disney world (in Orlando) with my family Kyle cried on Tower of Terror :) - hopefully Ryan won't follow suit.

Babies...

Animal babies that is. My mom said that two lil' wrens have a nest in the wreath on their front door and now there are eggs in there (she is psyched to be a Grandma, which will only happen with animals if Kyle or I have anything to say about it :) ). Also the Toledo Zoo has 3 baby polar bears and one baby giraffe (there are also some baby birds, but they look sort of 'satanic'). The giraffe, at over six feet tall and 140 pounds at birth, Akilah (pronounced Ah-kee-la, meaning “intelligent, perceptive one” in Swahili) is by all measures strong and in good health. With the birth of these polar bear cubs, The Toledo Zoo is home to three of only four newborn polar bear cubs in North American Zoos. College Apps

Kyle, my younger brother, is in the process of applying to universities to finish out his college career (he has attended 2 years worth of community colleges near home and it ready to venture out of Michigan). He is applying to different schools down south, his latest being Florida State University. He is looking to major in Biology. I don't know much about the schools (since I only applied to in-state schools), but I wish him the BEST luck ever! I am a very proud sister and know he will do great wherever he goes! GO KYLE!

Oh THERE you are Peter!

Ryan is back to San Diego again! Hip, Hip, Hurray! In the past 3 weeks I have seen him for a total of 4 hours I think, so I am excited to get to see him again this weekend. I am looking into tickets to go to California Adventure (which is an amusement park across the street from Disney). I have never been there, but people are selling tickets on craigslist so I thought if I could get us 2 we could take a venture up to Anaheim and see what the park has to offer. If we don't go up there we may go see Grindhouse before they split it into 2 separate movies (http://movies.ign.com/articles/779/779139p1.html). Also, we are going to dye Easter eggs. Yes, I know we are a week late, but since he has been out of town we are going to do it this weekend, haha.

NEW YORK (AP) -- MSNBC said Wednesday it will drop its simulcast of the "Imus in the Morning" radio program, responding to growing outrage over the radio host's racial slur against the Rutgers women's basketball team.
"This decision comes as a result of an ongoing review process, which initially included the announcement of a suspension. It also takes into account many conversations with our own employees," NBC news said in a statement.
The decision also was announced on air.

"Jesus, I Trust in You!"

Awesome idea. This couple in Monroe put up a billboard that says "Jesus, I Trust in You!"

Since living in California I normally turn to the LA Times before the NY Times (just because most of the regional news is more pertinent to me now). I saw an article a couple minutes ago about how some USC Students were having a sit in to urge the school to use NON-sweatsuit shops to make the school apparel. I thought that this was a great idea, especially since I was in a similar group back at UofM. I was SHOCKED when I read that USC threatened to suspend the students and kick them out of university housing. It is an interesting story, and a good cause to fight for, so if you have a minute check out the whole story:

I give 5 stars for the effort put forth by the students and ZERO stars for USC threatening the kids with suspensions.
