REVIEW: Skratch Labs (& GIVEAWAY)

I have to admit, I LOVE WATER! It is definitely my go-to for hydration. But when I ran across Skratch Labs (pun TOTALLY intended) I knew it was worth a shot. With a slogan like "Real Hydration + Real Food = Real Performance" I knew they were a company right up my alley!

If you are expecting something like a standard sports drink, I want to warn you - THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE SPORTS DRINK! It is a great tasting hydration drink with fewer calories, more electrolytes, and NO artificial ANYTHING!

Seeing as it is an all natural sports drink, it doesn't have a super strong flavor. Don't get me wrong, the flavors are scrum-didily-umptious - they just aren't super overpowering. It reminds me more of an infused water (than what you probably think of when you hear the words "sports drink"), but with all of the added benefits of a sports drink. It will replenish both the fluid and electrolytes lost while you sweat during a workout and also provide just enough calories to help fuel your working muscles!

I used the Pineapples flavor during a strength training workout and it was delish! It didn't give me a funny feeling in my belly (thanks to the REAL ingredients) or leave a funky taste in my mouth afterwards. PS And just in case you notice that the liquid isn't totally clear, the floaties aren't "floaties", unless you backwash I guess, it's PULP... You know, from the ACTUAL fruit it is made with!

I also had the Oranges flavor while maxin' and relaxin' at the pool. Sure, the drink is "meant" to be used during exercise, but with the temperatures in the 90*s, you better believe I needed to be sure to stay hydrated! Before heading down to the pool I added some ice cubes in my bottle to get the mix extra cold - YUM!

There is also a HOT Apples & Cinnamon flavor. Thankfully I live in Southern California, so don't really deal with cold weather training, but I know TONS of you out there do (don't worry, I put in my time and grew up in the frozen tundra of Michigan for twenty plus years). This hot sports drink is very interesting to me. First, I don't know of any other HOT sports drink on the market. Also, because I don't train in the cold I haven't thought about it much, but I'd assume if you are coming in from the snow and your face is frost bitten, the last thing you would want is a glass of a COLD sports drink. OF COURSE you would rather reach for a hot drink that would make you feel great AND KEEP YOU HYDRATED! What an amazing concept! I tried my mug after a brisk (for SoCal) evening walk with the hubby and pup. It was yummy and warmed us right up. Hubs even suggested it for pre-race mornings when it is still a bit chilly out - GREAT IDEA!

And it is YOUR lucky day! When Skratch sent me some samples to try, they sent PLENTY and I am going to share some of their generosity with you! There will be TWO winners. The first winning a sample pack of four single serving mixes (Pineapples, Oranges, Raspberries, and (HOT) Apples & Cinnamon). The second winning a Resealable Bag of the Lemons & Limes Exercise Hydration Mix.
